I am trying to test Dolphin 7 Beta onto my Ubuntu 9.04 with xampp.

The problem is that many file are Non-writable and Non-Executable.

From Ubuntu terminal I put sudo chmod o+rwx htdocs and sudo chmod o+rwx Dolphin_Folder but there are not changes.

How I should do?

Try chmod a=rwx

or

chmod 777

Because I don't have a web site with free space. ;-)

@deano:

I tried to do in this way, by terminal:

tarab@tarab-laptop:~$ cd /opt
tarab@tarab-laptop:/opt$ cd lampp
th
tarab@tarab-laptop:/opt/lampp$ cd htdocs
tarab@tarab-laptop:/opt/lampp/htdocs$ cd dolphin7-beta
tarab@tarab-laptop:/opt/lampp/htdocs/dolphin7-beta$ chmod a=rwx

But the sintax appears uncorrect.

It's ubuntu. You will need to use sudo.

sudo chmod a=rwx filename

Where filename is the name of the file your changing the mode on. If that don't work try.

sudo chmod 777 filename

Sorry. I did not realize in needed to be more specific. I thought you would get the idea.

Hi,

well! Ubuntu need for sudo!!!

I tried to put:

cd /opt/

cd lampp

cd htdocs

sudo chmod 777 dolphin-directory

but if I go to "localhost/dolphin-directory/, it appears:

Oh, ok. i see what your trying to do. I believe you might think that doing sudo chmod 777 dolphin-directory will change all the files in that directory.

It's not that simple. Each file must be CHMODed one at a time.

Change to the directory where dolphin is installed.

chmod 777 filename.

Example.

sudo chmod 777 backup

sudo chmod 777 cache

sudo chmod 777 inc

sudo chmod 777 media/app

Repeat process for each file listed that needs to be changed.

It is tedious, and time consuming.
