zip code search problems credit on my site for fix

there seems to be a major problem with 7.1 beta zip code search. sometimes it lists everyone accross the country with a 100 mile search and sometimes it lists no one at all . this has been tried with both search settings in multiple places where that search is located. i am not opening the dating part till i find a fix. this is tested with canadian zip codes only . i don't know if the other ones work. but those selectable search routines are probably global. anyone got a quick fix for them? its a good option. once again i give credit on my site in the about list.
