RE: Hi what about a flash based slider were everything is stored in a swf file. or can you provide the steps so i can install jquery slider , plus is there any free ones around. Had you taken the time to look at the the google search results, you would quickly have found out that almost all of them are free. They will all give instructions on how to add the slider to any page. I've attached a demo of a slider called 'GalleryView' that I have added to the dolphin home page template. Just unzip and upload to /templates/tmpl_uni to see it work. Study the files _header.html and page_1.html to see how the slider is inserted into the page. This is just an example on how to implement. Just about any other jquery slider can be added in a similar manner My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |

Great help thankyou i will read this , hope its simple lol. does swf banners slow down websites then. |
Here's a better example. You can replace the pictures with your own, and use this one as-is. Unzip and upload to /templates/tmpl-uni to see demo You can use flash if you want to, but people visiting your site with mobile browsers such as ipad, will not see it. Jquery slider works in all mobile browsers My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
HI IF YOU HAVE TIME COULD YOU MAKE A VIDEO STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO INSTALL THIS PLEASE. SORRY IF THIS SOUNDS STUPID |
RE HI IF YOU HAVE TIME COULD YOU MAKE A VIDEO STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO INSTALL THIS PLEASE. SORRY IF THIS SOUNDS STUPID No I am not going to make a step by step video, even if you make those all caps in bold red text. All you have to do is unzip, and upload the files as I said. What is so difficult about that? My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
hi sorry about the large text lol, i see 3 files galleryview / _header / page1 were does all the _header / page1 code go, many thanks |
hi sorry about the large text lol, i see 3 files galleryview / _header / page1 were does all the _header / page1 code go, many thanks In the very first post of this topic I said " Just unzip and upload to /templates/tmpl_uni to see it work." I chose to add this to the UNI template folder because it does not have a _header.html or a page_1.html. Custom third party templates may have these two files, and that is why you should test this with the UNI template. If you do not understand how to upload these files to /templates/tmpl_uni, then you should get someone to help you. If you are going to work with templates, you need to learn at least the basics. The slider that HL gave you is more or less plug and play. You will need to add the language keys; do you know how to add language keys? The gallery view slider is tied to Uni template but if you study the code you can easily see how to add it to any template you may be using. To add it to the Uni template, you would upload the files to the "root" of the Unit template. In other words, you would see this in the directory listing. css galleryview images scripts _header.html page_1.html
You would replace the images in /galleryview/img with the images you wish to show in the slider and add the language keys in the backend. If you don't want text on the images, then either remove it from the code or add the language keys with a blank text (I assume one can do that). If you don't want the promo_Block then just remove that from the code, and centre your slider on the page and make it as wide as you desire. Geeks, making the world a better place |
RE If you don't want the promo_Block then just remove that from the code
The second download I posted has that extra block removed, and has a full width slider without the thumbnail strip. It also has one minor css fix. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
My mistake; I saw the galleryview 2 and downloaded it but installed the first one by mistake when he asked for more help. Geeks, making the world a better place |

sorry why would you not use one , whats the problem is it bad for sites. So, you would like me to answer that again, rather than scroll up to see my reason not to use flash? My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
sorry lol im not worried about the ipad yet lol, it seems very easy as a single swf file can do the job without any code. |
