use Real Name no Username

Hi

I want delete the UserName option. I would like, in my site, that users use only Firstname and Lastname.

Dolphin7.1 forces users to enter a Username... why?

itself is also removed, many things do not work

because dolphin or any app for that matter has to have a unique user name or email....

with that said you can change this in dolphin admin the way names are shown:

Settings - Advanced settings - profile - Member Display Name

First Name

First Name - Last Name

Last Name - First Name

UserName <<<  default

but itself is deleted from the  field (username )a lot of things do not work, such as the link that directs to the profile, etc etc. it's stupid

Then just change what i posted above in the admin panel.  There is no way around username.  Its heavily coded into dolphin in 100's of locations.

There has been a discussion on this before.  Most of the site uses member's ID for internal things.  The profile page does use user name.  You would have to recode how the profile page works, changing it to use user ID.  Then there is displays through out the site that shows the user's name; that would have to be changed.  This is not a light undertaking.  Best to rethink on this.
