upgrade language file question

Last time I upgraded I had to recreate lot of the field titles. For some reasons the field titles when cryptic on me and compiling the language file didn’t work.

Looking at the instructions below; in blue, more specifically the line stating “create a translated copy of lang_en.php for your custom language”.
Where do I create the custom language file?
I’m not using anything other then English, so do I still need to create this file so that I don’t have to recreate the field titles like I did with the last upgrade?

Need clearfication.

from Boonex upgrade instructons:
NOTE: You can also update your custom language translations if you create the appropriate translated files for your custom language, BEFORE THE UPGRADE PROCESS, in upgrade/files/7.0.1-7.0.2/ and upgrade/files/7.0.1-7.0.2/modules/*/ directories. There are lang_en.php files by default in these directories. Create a translated copy of lang_en.php for your custom language. For example, if you have the Russian language installed you can add lang_ru.php files. Then all new language keys for your custom language will be added automatically.

When you recompile the languages, some of the tags are taken from the language file. So if you want to retain your changes, you should modify the language file so that your changes are pulled in instead.

So how do you modify the language file so the changes are pulled in?

do i make a copy of the lang_en.php and copy it in the upgrade folder?

Just modify the file in situ. ie modules/spy/install/langs/en.php

If you add additional languages, create additional files for each language and add them in too.

Thanks for the help but im not getting something here or understanding your perspective.

The instruction is a bit broken if you never done this before.

The file and path described in the answer isn’t found either in the live sit or in the upgrade files/folders.

"Create a translated copy of lang_en.php for your custom language."

First, where am I creating this file from?

am i creating it from the upgrade files or from my life site, assuming my life site but how?

once i create the language file, am i copy/pasting over another file in the upgrade folders?

can someone please give me a clear description of the instruction. Boonex????

Thanks

I think what DeeEmm is saying is to go to your modules/boonex/ directory on your current site and within each module open up the en.php file found within the install directory of each module  and make the changes that you have already made on your site so that when the 7.0.2 patch does its thing, it will pull in the changes you have already instead of the default ones you see in each install/en.php file.

Does that help at all?
