td vs. div

I'm getting ready to start working on a new template, and I see that everything is set up with tables.  Does anyone have any opinion on the advantages and disadvantages of using tables for layouts, as opposed to divs (which it seems would be more flexible)?

Hello,

I'm not aware of tables being used for the layout... if you look in template files there are mainly div in there.

IMHO  td vs. div is not the issue here - it's the css files. There are millions of them - ok I am exagerating a little bit.

Yesterday I spent considerable time getting the css for the orca forums the way I wanted it (I also had to edit some inline css in xsl files - grrrrr!) and today I discovered that I need to do the same thing for the groups forums Yell

Good luck with your template Laughing

Oops!  I still had the last rejected package in mind.  You're right about the css.  I'm going to look into merging some of them.
