still having trouble with ORCA FORUM

I edited the main.css file within /orca/layout/base_en/css and /orca/layout/base/css. All I did was change the background color from FFFFFF to 000000 (which did not work). I recompiled the languages of the forum successfully yet the settings would not apply. The background of the forum is still an off white color.

But since then, I restored by changes back to default. Now when I try to compile the languages again, I receive the error "Language files compilation have been failed. Please check folders permissions".

I did not change the permissions at all. All i did was edit a single line of code within 2 css files.

any ideas?

I'm using dolphin 6.1.6 pay version on OpenSuSE linux 11.1

My goal is to either make the background of the forum black or make the text display in black.

base/css/main.css and base_en/css/main.css have to be exactly the same so just backup them up and then put the base css main into base_en css main there

once restored...you edit the base/css/main.css then compile and your changes will take.

I get the same error. I copied the main.css from backup. So I'm 100% sure that they are identical. But the same error happens when I try to compile.

No. How exactly do I do that?

You can clear your cache from the dashboard of the administration panel. If that doesn't work, you can clear the /cache/ and /cache_public/ directories, leaving the .htaccess file in place in the former directory.

Edit: Ah, this is for Dolphin 6.1. Ignore this and follow the directions of that man beneath me.

D6. This is not like D7 so don't worry about the cache. He is thinking D7.

Try this. Make a complete backup of orca/layout/base_en then remove the folder base_en from the server.

Then recompile. The base_en folder should be recreated when the language is compiled.

I have a feeling when you edited the css file in base_en the files ownership changed preventing overwrite by the server.

When changing the css, just edit the one in base. When compiled the changes should be copied to _en during the recompile.
