Sigh!... Seems to me that doing the installation properly has caused way more problems than I had in the first place! Now I cannot... Upload a logo, Edit the splash header, Edit any block or item in field builder, edit any items like about us, copyright, etc etc... you get the picture. And now the obligatory techy bit...

Installed manually, V 7.1, and the problem has been recreated by another user on the other side of the pennines. (to those over the pond, the pennines are the range of mountains that go down the middle of England).

I am really REALLY becoming disheartened!

Did Terry change all permission via SSH as per the install directions.

Unzipping the and running is not complete.

In the admin panel of the most current SVN, the link I sent you, now has been update to show the correct file permissions for the modules after they are installed..

fresh install

 fresh..

I know most say they set the permissions. The one's midway through the directions, but the very last part of that page, you did the modules permissions too, otherwise you can get problems with the flash modules too and other problems.

all permissions were done even modules and then manually checked

I have found the problem above! bheing stubborn gits, Terry and I scrapped the install that came up with the above problems, and started again. Lo and behold, all started out well, then back to the above problems. After swearing a lot, and having a cuppa and a cigar, i worked back through all steps.... and came up with a common denominator. One thing we added at about the point it all went as described above, so... scrap it, start again... Add mods one by one and check, all hunky-dory, Almost completely set up with everything on it, all working well, including the avatars, my original prob, (more on that in a while... And what ONE thing did we do different on the 2 installs since, that are working well? We did NOT apply the Chrome fix!!!!!! So, by process of elimination, that is the cause of the above problems.

Back to my avatar problem... whilst doing the above, I noticed 3 folders on my server that I deleted... It seems for some reason known only to itself, the datacentre had restored a backup of my server space over the current contents, which would explain a lot!!! as it happened about the time my avatar problem began!

And while I am here wrapping this one up, I have gotta say that there is a guy here who works his bloody socks off for the benefit of members, inreturn for nothing but the satisfaction of beating a problem and making the member happy, so lets all stand up and give a good cheer to Newton 27!!!!!!!
