resizing photos in the promo block and main logo

i tried and tried...can some one please explain to me ..in laymans term ( simple detail direction )

of how i can resize my photo for the main logo and promo block ..there coming out to be very small

 andi will like the  promo bloc to be the size and width of the block it self...i have kept the resize botton checked,

i played with differn sizes..i mega sized and still the come out small..

please help.....geezz

Make sure you have GD library/Imagemagick installed. If this is there, your image will be re-sized correctly.

how or where do i located the  GD library/Imagemagick

and once i do ..what will i do next ...

as you see im not tech and i asking for al in the same boat as me...
