People are always asking how to remove the /m/ and other "breadcrumb paths" from their URL. I'm not trying to be rude, but purely inquisitive, but what's wrong with them being there? Almost every mult-page site you visit has them so why do you want Dolphin to be different? The average user doesn't look up that far and even if they did, they probably take no notice of what's there. Amongst other things, the 'breadcrumb' can be handy when trying to debug a page. At least you have an idea where to start. Have you looked at the top of this forum page? It's pretty typical of what you see on every site out there and I ask, is it so annoying that you have to remove it? https://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/removing-php-from-pages-on-my-site.htm As I said, it's a question, not criticism. |
Next time you are browsing around the net, look at some of the URLs, they are long and complex but who cares; it is not the URL that people notice, it is your site. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Actually. It helps with SEO to have what is called "pretty URLs" you get more points with search engine rankings than if you have long URLs. |
@PuppyShad, that leads to a lot of other issues: Are you allowing, or wanting SEO to list your member's profiles or even their photos in Google Images? That could be in contravention of the many new laws being introduced World Wide. It may be prudent on a social networking site to use the expression "What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las vegas! I'm using that approach and not allowing the bots near any data. Thus lengthy URL's aren't an issue with me. |
