I am contemplating moving my server to somebody else that I think can give me better performance...
But, they don't have a media server..
What modules require this and can it be hosted on another server?
Thanks!

RMS is needed for:
If none of these features are used or interest you, then there should be no issues moving to a host without RMS. If this is a VPS/dedicated server, you could also have RMS installed locally, or opt for RMS hosting from a third-party. Nathan- Thanks for your help. Here is my idea... let me know what you think.. Move my site which currently does not utilize any of the media server technologies... However, keep my old site up which has Media Server technlologies and then point the new location in the control panel to the old site for the media server..

Do you mean to have the site hosted elsewhere, but use the old host's media server? This can certainly be done, but unless the old hosting is cheap enough, it may be better to order RMS separately. If you contact the host, they may even offer a reduced price for only RMS access. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
