private message request

In the ray chat, there is a feature which allows you to click on a user and request a private chat.  This is actually a little misleading, because no request is sent to the individual.  The individual is just 'pulled' into a private chat room with you.

most of my users come from other chat systems, which have certain functionalities like, only people in your buddy list can instant message you.  some of them feel violated that they have no control over who is 'pulling' them into private chats.

Have I missed something in the admin setup that allows this request to actually be sent and accepted or declined?  Is there a mod that handles something like this?

I am most interested in finding a solution to this issue.

Since I am not a big fan of finding a solution and keeping it to myself, this is what I came up with as a solution.

Since the Ray presence application does, in fact, require a validation by the person who is being asked to speak in private, the solution was to remove all ability to initiate private messages in the general chat rooms and force people to use the presence application to speak privately.  This is not an elegant solution, but it does prevent people from being pulled into private conversations that they do not wish to have.  What was annoying, was even if you closed down the private chat message in chat, all the person had to do was type again, and you were once again pulled into the private chat.

In order to eliminate the ability to private chat in general chat rooms, I did attempt to modify the xml files and the action files that control the appearance, but to no avail.  By installing the Membership Levels Manager plugin, I was able to control what membership levels were allowed to initiate private messages, which I completely disabled in chat.

I believe there is an opportunity for a plugin here, based on a more secure chat environment.  Being brand spanking new to the dolphin, ray and orca environment, I am unable to at this time develop such a plugin.
