PHP 5.3.x is too old and isn't supported anymore. Even security fixes aren't addressed anymore.

Only some 5.3.x versions are safe, usually they are bundled with the *nix distributions, 5.3.29 isn't one of them...

Don't be fooled by version numbers. Depending on your OS, your PHP version might still be OK. Redhat/CentOS for example uses "backporting" to add security fixes to older versions of Apache, PHP, etc. So, unless you need new functionality PHP 5.3 might be sufficient for you.

See https://access.redhat.com/security/updates/backporting/?sc_cid=3093 for more information.

Hi Denre,

Thank you for your input on that. We do work to make sure any PHP version that is being used is as secure as it can be. We use CloudLinux/cPanel with all our linux servers.

@Eli -Your server was just updated to the latest version of PHP

Noah when i go to Nt php Selector , this is the version of php i got :

PHP: 5.3.29 - OK this is the one i'm using now with the current version of dolphin.

When i go select to change the php version in the Nt php Selector   that's what i got in the list :

PHP: 5.2.17 - WARNING (your PHP version is probably outdated, upgrade to the latest 5.3.29 maybe required)

PHP: 5.4.39 - WARNING (your PHP version is probably outdated, upgrade to the latest 5.6.8 maybe required)

PHP: 5.5.23 - WARNING (your PHP version is probably outdated, upgrade to the latest 5.6.8 maybe required)

So where's the update you talking about ?

I can't see no safe and secured version of php yet unless i'm mistaken  . !

Do not listen to Dolphin when it warns about the PHP version - in this case, it's recommending switching to PHP 5.6, when 5.3 and up is fine and compatible. As long as security updates are backported, there's no issue, and Dolphin does not know anything about the state of updates to PHP on the server. Sometimes this will even break Dolphin, as was the case where 7.0.9 recommended PHP 5.4+, which was not compatible and caused issues.

Your host will know best about this. In the case of alternative PHP versions, these are usually provided by a solution like CloudLinux, and do receive updates frequently.

Hopefully the audit will be updated in future versions to only check if the version of PHP is compatible.
