multiple accounts - anyway to find out members IPs

Hi is there anyway to find a members IP, even if I manually check them all for a duplicate IP I need to do something to know who is making multiple accounts. Is there a way to get a members IP on join up?

Really appreciate help with this

AntonLV has a great mod for this.  AMS 1 and AMS 2.  AMS 1 will do what you are asking.  AMS 2 goes further and tells you whether the user is from where they say they are.  Really helpful.

Away of avoiding detection would be delete your account and create another. I have 2 weeks trial and users avoiding payment, are creating new accounts. How would we know if this was occurring?

charge a $0.10 sign up fee, then you have their paypal or whatever means of processing they are using. might not work, but worth a shot

P.S. there is really no way to stop that, since they can log through a proxy and sign up as many times as they wish.

Thanks Dos Dawg well I guess it is a way to look like you have lots of member, unfortunately will never make a cent this way. So it makes running a site worthless unless there is zero trial period or a very small time so its not worth there while.

Going by IP address has a whole list of issues.

flash cookies may work, as they are not deleted when a user clears there browser cache / history and all browsers on there computer share flash cookies.

Most people solve this by creating a teaser account that allows them to look around but not interact until they have paid to join up.

my advice would be to ditch the trial period altogether. in my experience, the majority of the trial joins result in canceling when or before the trial ends anyway. they are just lookers. if people are interested in joining, they don't need a free trial.

Re-opening an old wound here... So what is the best method of detecting and deleting multiple accounts registered by one user?
