module license - domains + subdomains?

Does a module license as standard cover the use of the module on 1 URL plus subdomains from that URL or should you have a new license purchased for subdomains??

The licence will not work on sub domains. Each sub domain would require a separate licence.

However, one licence can be used for multiple installs in sub folders.

Thanks Deano, although I think you think I meant the dolphin license, I was referring to a module license!

Most mods of course, dont ask you to input a license key, they just install and work.

Some you have to register for a license for a single domain use.

With subdomains though, are they not part of the same single domain, just seen as seperate sections of that site?

In my setup, they are in fact, sub sections of a main site, that just need a complete install offering all the normal levels of filtering and category selection etc....

Oh. Yea, i misread the question.

That is up to the module developer. I for example do not like my mods used on dozens of domains or even subdomains and only purchased once. I think of it as a per install basis. One copy, one site.

I do not yet have a licensing system in any of my mods to prevent that. But if it continues to happen, i most likely will at some point.

However i cannot answer for all module developers. It is up to them.

As I thought.

I just wandered about the sub-domain issue especially if the sub-domain was a part of the main site still!
