Edit your language keys/text strings from your Admin Panel Language Settings (or even within your database). Don't edit your langxxx php files !!!

Compiling a language will replace your langxxx php file with language datas contained in your database...

You have to make another file than the english one..

1. Go in admin panel > langs > export english language > save it locally > translate it > change country code and language code and rename the file for the new language.

2. Go in admin panel > langs > import language >make default >delete english

You're done..
