member menu - Addnew

There is Top for left and Top extra for the right side of the menu bar. In the right side, there is the button AddContent. It works when clicked. When looked at it int the admin section, it is build as seen in the attached image. Now, i want this button on the lefit side of the menu. So i choose NEW ITEM and duplicate all the entries.

The button shows up, with the right icon and text but it does not work. Why?

Maybe it is missing some code in the script field like: javascript:showPopupLanguage();  , this works, but the pop for language shows up (i had found this in the forum) Is there a similar code for the addContent, too?

But why is it not needed on the right side of the menu bar then? Thank you

One issue is you cannot have two items with the same system name. There is the danger of language keys overriding one when you save the other. So always use a different system name for every item.

However, the editor does not allow you to change the database eval field which is the one you actually need to edit for the addContent link. You would see that field if you look at the items via phpMyAdmin.

If you just want to move it from the right side to the left side just drag it down from top-extra into the all items section, then go to the top side and drag it up from the all items into the top.
