just cannot install dolphin 7

I am having problems which I have tried to fix for 3 consecutive days now.

I have researched to my best ability in these forums but keep getting stuck.

Ive a website that used to be on an older version of dolphin(6) and wanted to install dolphin 7, so I setup new hosting space and ran the dolphin7 installer.

First problem:

Permission reversals:  It asks me to set DIRECTORY INC to non-writable

So I "guessed" at 755 and  it did not work, because the next page gives me this error:

Warning: require_once(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/~shaunb1/inc/security.inc.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/shaunb1/public_html/inc/header.inc.php on line 171

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/usr/local/apache/htdocs/~shaunb1/inc/security.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/shaunb1/public_html/inc/header.inc.php on line 171

I have tried several other chmod numbers, but to no joy.

Eachg time having to drop all the tables in the database to try again.

I am stuck, and right now my website is not accessible(and upsetting a few of my members).

Can anyone herehelp me out ?

p.s. does this forum have a "PM" or "reply" setting that allows the thread subscribers to be notified of new posts?  (seems a flaw on dolphin unless I am mistaken)

My next issue will be getting everything in the database transferred from the old to new.

Thanks

Shaun

Just click Skip, at that step. This seems to be a known issue. No matter what you change it to, it still will not work. Keep it at 755 and just click Skip. You will be fine.

Thanks, but when I press skip I still get the following error:

Warning: require_once(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/~shaunb1/inc/security.inc.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/shaunb1/public_html/inc/header.inc.php on line 171

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/usr/local/apache/htdocs/~shaunb1/inc/security.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/shaunb1/public_html/inc/header.inc.php on line 171

Ive also, in desperation, just tried to install the orignal 6.1.4 I was on, and get the exact same error message, so guess its soemthing else.

I think I was having the same issues long time back and got it resolved and I also posted the fix that worked for me.

So you can give this a try - http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/Permissions-error-encountered-during-D7RC-install.htm

Thanks Mick, was it the header in the inc folder you removed? when you say old header file?

Anyway Im going for a new hots(arvixe, like you) and fresh install.

now, how easy is it to transfer all the stuff from 6.1.4 to 7?

thx

Glad to be of any help -

Your header.inc.php file should be here that you need to delete as it's dynamically generated -

/home/shaunb1/public_html/inc/header.inc.php

I did a fresh install from D7, so I cannot be of any help for 6.1.4 migration...sorry. But I see there are migration scripts from 6.1.6 to D7RC2, did you tried that?
