install issue

I installed dolphin on my live server now. I copied its configuration exactly. When I complete the install, it tries to redirect me to the home page, but instead it just displays the code:

Is the php option short_open_tags on?

It needs to be, and it looks like it's off.

I checked and that wasn't the case. I went ahead and reinstalled apache and php a few times. Each time it gives me the same results.

Certain php files will run just fine...for instance in a directory called install, the index.php there pulls up fine. But for most it will either just display actual PHP code.

When I checked Dolphin's specs...it states "exec() (executable files) must be allowed"..........I think that could be the issue....it would make sense since certain PHP files are just not running.

How can I check to see if exec() is enabled?? Is it just a permissions thing? if so, what would be the correct chmod command to correct the issue?
