install error

hi guys,

not sure what to do here, can somebody help me please? not very confident ive posted this in the right place, sorry.

Ok so I'm using godaddy as my host : /    I have progressed through the install all the way up to Permissions Reversal. When I click 'next' the screen following the Reversal just says:

Warning: require_once(/var/chroot/home/content/68/5880568/html/inc/security.inc.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/68/5880568/html/edenmovementcommunity.info/inc/header.inc.php on line 173

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/var/chroot/home/content/68/5880568/html/inc/security.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/68/5880568/html/edenmovementcommunity.info/inc/header.inc.php on line 173

It looks something similar to the Cron Job and I've carefully put the following into the cron job on godaddy:

/usr/local/bin/php -q m:/home/localhost/www/d70/periodic/cron.php   as the command. and i selected the email.

It has something to do with the paths on Godaddy. If you search the forum for "godaddy security.inc.php" you will see a few other people with the same problem. This person fixed it by starting the install over and changing one of the paths:

I solved this, so for anyone else who has this problem. this might help you. But I have a new problem....

my situation with godaddy is for an unlimited shared hosting and my root domain eg http://mysite.co.uk

as per the instruction from boonex, on the second page of the install, you should set the install default directory to http://mysite.com/mycommunity/   i was trying to not do this because i wanted the URL of the dolphin site to be http://mycommunity and this was causing the error.

i was forced to install to http://mysite.com/mycommunity/ giving me a daft and inappropriate URL for the site. here comes the solution to fix this. i had to use godaddy domain forwarding and specify mycommunity to foward to http://mysite.com/mycommunity/  the godaddy help is here http://help.godaddy.com/article/422  & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLUkXkkPWe8

so now, the site loads. using mycommunity.com site. in my case its edenmovementcommunity.info  BUT, i need some help. the domain successfully forwards to http://mysite.com/mycommunity/  in my case http://mymultitools.co.uk/www/edenmovementcommunity.info/index.php and has a terrible URL in the address bar.

to resolve this ive looked up info on .htaccess, clean URLs but haven't found a working solution yet, any ideas?

Ok, we can fix this but I want to make sure I understand everything correctly.

1. You own both domain names (mymultitools.co.uk and edenmovementcommunity.info)?

2. You want the Dolphin site to show up when someone goes to edenmovementcommunity.info but mymultitools.co.uk is the primary domain name on your Godaddy account?

If both those two statements are correct then you need to go into Cpanel (or the Godaddy control panel if you didn't get Cpanel) and select "add-on domain".  Add "edenmovementcommunity.info" as an "add-on" domain on the account. I'm not sure if this is how you got to the point you're at now but if it is then we're on track. At this point everything that is in the /html/edenmovementcommunity.info/ directory will show up when you go to http://www.edenmovementcommunity.info just like it was a primary domain. When you did the install you should have just put that as the domain for the site.

One quick thing to try before you do anything else. Edit /inc/header.inc.php and change the huge domain name that is there now to just:

http://www.edenmovementcommunity.info/

or

http://edenmovementcommunity.info/

depending on your preference. Don't forget the "/" at the end.  If the add-on domain is setup correctly then when you type in edenmovementcommunity.info in your browser it should take you to the site and only show the domain name.

Thanks Mscott,

yes i own mymultitools.co.uk and edenmovementcommunity.info.

i had setup a 'add domain' for edenmovementcommunity.info and place it a folder for it / (root) and also tried /www/ neither makes a difference (which is how it is presently).

the root is actually the primary domain for setting up the hosting, in my case mymultitools.co.uk. this means that when i placed the dolphin files (via ftp) to the folder (/edenmovementcommunity.info and pointed my browser to edenmovementcommunity.info nothing showed up. Also, if i point my browser to http://edenmovementcommunity.info/install/index.php/ to initiate install nothing shows up.

I realised the only way to get dolphin setup to appear was by preceding http://edenmovementcommunity.info/install/index.php/ with http://mymultitools.co.uk/www/edenmovementcommunity.info/

You asked me..... ' When you did the install you should have just put that as the domain for the site.' when i installed i experimented a couple of times, and repeated the installation to see if i could get it to install just to http://edenmovementcommunity.info unfortunately that didn't work and I had to install it to http://mymultitools.co.uk/www/edenmovementcommunity.info/

i guess at this stage there's not much you can do to help as it's probably godaddy's end. I would like to set edenmovementcommunity.info to the primary domain and repeat the experiments but the option is greyed out and there help page shouldn't tell me what to do.

hmmm, been a long day and not much achieved. thank-you for your fast replies! much appreciated.

ok its up now, at last. i had to change around the domains on the godaddy hosting package. what i did was to delete the Primary Domain and setup edenmovementcommunity.info as the new Primary Domain rather than an Add on / Alias.

Then Dolphin installed easily with the defaul setting, i just had to put the mySQL database name in of course.

I did have to speak to Godaddy a couple of times and they helped redirect to the domain IP, easy for them and they knew exactly what they were doing.

so that proves proves it, despite all the post ive read about dolphin on godaddy shared, it works just fine!

thanks for your help MSCOTT

you speak incoherently, and you have succeeded in installing dolphin, running dolphin on godaddy is another feat, you shall soon be back in the forums asking for help about.

but if you think it was worth all of that effort, glad you got it running, but you shall return~~!~!!~~~~

for godaddy sites that are using "Aliased Domains" you can change the path during install to /html/foldername/
