index page problem

i am having a very strange problem..

i entered some ad code in my html header. I tried it is some different places.. Index, footer.html.. these did not cause a problem, but i did not see the code working..

i put it in header.html.. it messed up my site, removing most of the styles. so i removed it, just reversed what i had done.. cleared the cache's, etc.. on the site and the browser as well, but it is still all jumbled. i had an empty page that i put the code in.. then i went back and removed the code so the page was exactly as it was but the site will still not come back..

clues.. anyone.. please?

I had a similar problem in the past and it cleared up when i cleared the cache.. but not this time.

I use Dreamweaver or something your used to using to edit html in to change those files.

Using that the file can stay open and you can reload pages to see changes, if it breaks your site.

CTRL-Z in and revert the changes, the re-save. This has been a tremendous time saving method for me.

Or I edit cPanel File manager and leave that open to revert the changes.

And of course always make backups before you change any file..

if you are using the default skin, a good way around this is to copy the tmpl_uni folder and call it something like tmpl_ver1.

then copy the file you wish to edit from base. that way if you break the site you can just delete the file and it will then use the file from base.
