idea for Fields builder diferent profile users

If you add a new type of user in the Membership Levels exemple: musicean, pleas add to Fields builder difference user category (admin, standard, musicean, etc.) can have differences Active Items in profile, and add in the join form to choose difference membership levels to join, if i add in Membership Levels exemple: musicean tipe users can join to musicean profiles, and pleas add to profile info category of users , and users see membership level.

I don't completely understand, but I think I agree with where you are going with this.   Is it possible to select your membership level from the join form? - and for that matter pay for it.   That has been requested for years - did it make it into D7?   In D6 you have to "upgrade" from the control panel - what there is of it, but can't decide to transact on joining.   Lots of people wanted this - I think some Expertzzz mods were made for it.  I still don't have a working install, so haven't gotten to testing that part yet - how does it work?

By the way, I wish there was also a way to become members of groups from the join page and/or the edit profile page.   What I had in mind was something like a multiple select control that you could name whatever you want, but if selected would join the member in those groups.  For example, you could have a multiple select of "Interest Areas" and then a list- books, swimming, chess, - whatever.   Members who selected "Chess" from this dropdown would automatically be joined into the group.   I think this would grow the groups faster than they grow now, waiting for someone to "join" which may just be a few members at first.

I agree with CALTRADE about joining groups.  I already have on my project list to have a "Quick Join" mod developed once the final 7 launches.  I think it would be a great option to have as an option on the join form as well as on the profile.

1.Ar be interesting to have the option to choose the Membership Levels of user in the join form

2.All categories created to "membership levels" by admin, admin add categories available for use to "join form"

3. Ability to change profile "Membership Levels" to "Profile Fields", to have different profiles examples musicean, artist, etc. and have different interests and options. Add a new option in the "Fields builder" if you're such a composer admin can add different fields to "Composer Membership Levels" for example, to have different preference, compared to "Standard Membership Levels"

6. admin selects "Membership Levels" visible or invisible, the other "Membership Levels" example "administration Membership Levels" is invisible to "musician Membership Levels". This option is available in user profile but wish I could be set by admin for the different default profiles

5. users can search different "Membership Levels" add a new category "user category" which is available on the menu people, and categories

6 in "Page bloks" admin can select the "Profile Fields Block, visible or invizible for Guest, Standard, musicians, etc. for all" Membership Levels "created

I don't understand all of these, but #2 is interesting.  How exactly do categories get assigned to the profiles?  I don't see it on the demo - though just from the outside as I haven't reregistered since they wiped my account.   Couldn't / Shouldn't there be a multiple select for "categories" on the join/edit profiles form as well?   Here is what I am asking in practical terms:  I have defined a dropdown on my site called "Industries" - meaning the industry they work in.   Should that also be a category set?  Do I (admin) define it or the member?  And what is the relationship between profile field, categories, and tags?  Could someone enlighten me as how it is envisioned to work?

Unfortunately we can't add new features in this version.

Well what am I - chopped liver?   I have been asking for this for months and months, but lots of other people have also.   I'm really surprised this didn't make it into the final feature list .   If people could select their membership level at the same time the log in, then "paying" members would be much more likely.   Right now it is a two step process 1. Convince them to register, and then 2.  Convince them to upgrade.  The problem with not allowing it at join, is that you completely eliminate impulse buying.    At least some people, for whom money is not a big issue, would rather just pay for the service when they start their accounts, but by forcing the decision in the second step, the people are in a different mind set and now look at it as "I already have an account- should I bother to upgrade?".   We all work in an unfortunate industry where people tend to look for what is wrong, and not what is right - so they may seem some little thing they don't like, so don't bother to register.  I really wish Boonex had done this one - it probably left money on the table.

I woould also very much like to see the membership and group selection from the Join page.

Also the payment right away when the membership level is chosen.

And taking you to the cart and not just a message that the Item has been added to the cart.

The option to continue on the site from the cart should be an option.

Is there a way of selecting a currency other than the US $ and the Euro ?

Also are there going to be more payment options added like 6.1.4 Now the only option is Paypal.

Agree, payment at time of sign-up is key otherwise you potentially lose a LOT of money.  Hopefully that happens at some point.  As of now the plan is to have everyone who signs up automatically get a  2-week paid level so they can see all the benefits and hopefully choose to upgrade at the end of the 2 weeks rather than going back to the free membership which will have fewer bells and whistles.

It would be interesting to "join page", "edit profile" and "view profile", various options for editing and viewing the profile of the users, for all categories of 'membership levels'
1. Ability to join form of the profile in "fields builder for: users, should extend to all" membership levels "marked by admin
2. Ability to edit profile "fields builder" for: admin and owner, to extend to all "membership levels"
3. Ability to view profile in "fields builder" for: admin, member and visitors to extend to all "membership levels"
4. Ability to search profile in "fields builder" for: users to extend to all "membership levels" admin can edit diferent option for diferent users
5. Ability to view block or not in "page builder" for: quest and member, should extend to all "membership levels "

I am sure that these options would be of interest to all members of BoonEx, and if there are other people who agree with me to do this please post in this forum

Found this string.. a year old ... and I am amazed that this is still not addressed! When will we see this?

Quote · 5 Aug 2010

@delmarcash  It was one of the two or three features we lobbied hard for during the year we were waiting for D7.  We still want these things of course, but for the older members here, our spirits have been broken.

i did a small workaround that allows my users to be upgraded to a specific level upon joining, but it is based on an id number they get from an affiliated organization. I think the same concept would still apply.

I created an field where the user would enter their id number from the affiliated organization. everytime they log in - they are redirected to their account page. On that page I have added a php block that A. check the database table that holds the id numbers and looks to see if their id number exists. If it does, then their membership is automatically updated. If it does not then their membership is set to standard if not already standard.

Now - I am sure I could change the open field to a dropdown and have the user select their membership type and then apply a similar code to check membership type selected and then change to that membership.

The only issue would be the purchasing. I think if you change the redirect after account creation to go to the membership purchase page, that may help get them there automatically.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps someone figure out how to give you a better answer
