Description: Simple HTML Block

*Caption Lang Key:

...The Captions Key is the only thing i can change. I am trying to research this, found a few things except what i want.

Adding a block is simple.

  • Drag the html block where you want it to be located on the page
  • Click on the block to open it
  • Insert your html code
  • Name the block something like '_language_key' (make sure it's not already used)
  • go to settings/language settings and add the key

Voila...

Ok, now you got me confused. Are you talking about adding a field to the join page or another information block?

1. Explorer is my browser...

2. Trying to make another BLOCK on the JOIN PAGE. Just like the "why join" block. I'm NOT adding another field. Just want a simple block, well should be simple but i guess i am just not geting it.

  • I go to BUILDERS, then PAGE BLOCKS, drop down JOIN PAGE
  • I grab the HTML block, drag it to an active column 1 or 2
  • I click on it, name the Caption Lang Key:_Test block
  • I type something in the HTML CONTENT area, SAVE
  • I go to settings, language, language settings,
  • See attachment

I cannot seem to get this to work. By doing this, i go back to the JOIN PAGE on the BUILDERS page and the block still has the UNDERSCORE in front or its completely blank in which case i cannot delete it then.

ok so your issue is that you see an underscore on the name of the block, and that is because you placed it there.

referencing your attached image, Key Name is where you should have the _underscore iteration, and then the txt box is where you should put your human readable text, so the underscore there is not needed.

so your Lang Key that you provide on the block, should be _Test block, though i personally think the space is a bad idea. but you can do it the way you want to do it.

now go to settings lang settings

and when you create your new lang key, you would use _Test block, on the key name, then on the string, you would put Text Block or whatever you wanted displayed to the users.

the _Test block which was prescribed when creating the block, now has an associative lang key _Test block, so what this does is actually allows you to reference the lang key later if you so desired.

so recap

set the Lang Key on the block, add your text description or whatever when you create the block.

then settings lang settings, add new language key

lang key on block, is now written to the Lang Key and you provide human readable string that you wish to be presented.

I just tried this in exploter. added a new block to my home page.

Are you getting to the editor where you can insert and edit text / images / video or html?

Once the content is saved and you return to page view it should just display.....

If you put the underscore in the String Text field, that is what will show. Looks to me like you have the fields reversed. Try putting "_Test block" in the "key name" field and putting "Test Block" into the "String text for English language" field.

Oh, and go to the market and grab Deano's Tools. You can use that to delete any blocks that you've made that you want to delete (just be careful not to mess with the default system blocks).

That's what you're supposed to see.

I'm attaching images to show you what one of mine (that works) looks like after I set it up. (I didn't set up a Language key for it, I just changed the name to what I wanted it to show up on the page as)

as was mentioned and repeated, the underscore goes in the Key Name option, and then Regular Human Readable Text in the txt string area.

bad naming convention on linux systems to leave a space.
