how many sites actully make it over say a year?

I was wondering i know there are tons of sites created every month, my site just turned a year old this month. i know the money i have poured into it, getting traffic and upgrades and junk,  I seen alot of sites pop up then be gone in a month or two, i was just wondering what the percentage of successful sites was?

SocialMunch is 13 month old with 13,000 active users, about 30 thousand monthly uniques and 50+ million monthly page views...

Plenty do, but the number of failures outnumber the successful sites, mostly because a lot of people launch sites without any changes or effort.  And then there's the sites built around a theme that never attracts enough people, or copied an existing site and didn't realize people would rather spend time on the original than an attempted duplicate.

Edit: Don't use the sites here as an example.  The most successful sites don't usually hang around here.  Do a search for some Dolphin-specific URLs and check out the results.  You're bound to find some of them.
