how do i customize these things in dolphin

Hello guys,

I'm new to the dolphin community and just started looking at it. I have few questions about customization

and sorry about asking too many questions as i try to understand the dolphin.

1) In admin --> pageBuilder, I see only few pages like home page, accouunt, sharedVideo etc and I dont see

blogs, articles, forums, music, video pages etc. That means we cannot change the structure of those pages. basically my intensionis to use some nice blogs, articles, forums etc etc rss feeds and also users can create their own stuff.

2) also, pageBuilder has sharedVideo, sharedMusic pages, where would i see them? Is it if i click music and video from the menu i get them?

3) how do i change or remove the main big picture on home page

4) how i change this at the bottom of the page. can i remove or change the color of the text?

Welcome to the community!  Well someone certainly has a lot of pep and vigor to get going, problem is you may as well have asked how to design and build a skyscraper starting with the birth of the designer.

Let's see where we can get with the short answers:

1. You really asked two seperate questions here.  As for designing the blogs etc. their .html files in the templates directory can be altered like any other html page.  The RSS feeds etc. you would like to add could be done a couple ways.  I would suggest NYCarpenter's MYSpace/HTML mod over on expertzzz.com, within that mod is the ability to add graphics to comments.

3. Go to pafe_1.html in your templates directory and comment out __Promo_Code__  <!-- __Promo_Code__-->
4. If'n you are free let it be.  (See I coulda got O.J. off too)
5. It is a fancy paint program that many members can take turns drawing in.  I think since so many of us here act like kindergartners this was added to keep us amused during recess time.

And Tallyplayer beat me to this one!  Good job.  And I beg to differ though on the recess, MickyB has designed some wonderful paintings using the board feature on his site.

Hey now, I like the board feature.  I'd like to see it evolve a bit to be able to use symbol libraries... flow charts, etc.   Then again, Google Wave will likely render the board application obsolete.

1) right now i use page builder and drag and drop rss field in the page and set the URL in the main page/and or accoutn page. But since i'm not seeing blogs page and other pages in the pagebuilder, how could i add rss feed there?

and some of the rss feeds has pictures in it. how do i display those pictures from the rss feed? and also show just the hyperlink not the entire description.

4) Its a free license but i wanna change the color of the text  and or may be back ground color so how would i change them

5) I was not able to draw anythign since all the buttons are disabled.  tried on IE and firefox and i couldnt draw anything.

thats why i got confused. why is that pencil and other stuff are disabled on my pages?

 Let's take these out of order, just because it's fun to watch people keep up with us, I know you'll be able to though Angela, all chicks in ball caps can keep up.

1.  The boards require something called RMS, since your running free Dolphin, you will need to tie into the Boonex RMS by entering the information for it in the Admin => Plug Ins => Ray folder  You'll see how to do it there.  Can someone chime in with the correct ports for Boonex RMS, I've never used it so I don't know those.

2.  I answered your images in RSS on your other post, go take a look.  I promise, it's not painful to do at all.  I also suggest, if your not familiar with HTML yet, as this might be your first site, take the HTML Tutorial over on http://www.w3schools.com/ as it will help you out greatly.  Bookmark the page and you will learn it quick enough.

3.  You can change the text colors on the footer, just grab Firefox and install an add-on called Firebug.  Then open your home page up in Firefox and right click on the folder, tell it to inspect and then you can play with the colors and it will give you the file path and line number to make your changes in.
