gmail as smtp server ?

Due to poor email practices causing poor email reputation on the shared server that I am using, I am exploring other options for sending and receiving  emails for Dolphin Pro.

Can gmail or other reputable provider be setup to act as an smtp email server with Dolphin Pro ? How ?

Any discussion or advice is welcome.

You can connect to Gmail mail servers using SMTP, SSL/TLS.

If you connect using SMTP, you can only send mail to Gmail or Google Apps users;

if you connect using SSL/TLS, you can send mail to anyone.

If your device or application supports SSL - connect to smtp.gmail.com on port 465.

Thanks Jay

have done a bit more research. Seems there are daily sending limits using smtp that are lower than normal gmail limits. All hurdles to getting a good result. gmail business apps are a possibility but they do charge for those and there are still limits. Might make the investment though to avoid the issue with my TMDHosting shared email server at the moment which is blacklisted by two reporting groups (not by spamhaus though). They may also have some issues with new Yahoo DMARC policy changes. Hard to say as they don't disclose too much.

If there are any other suggestions for using SMTP external from a shared server, I could use the advice.

The challenge presents new learning and knowledge.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
