featured member setting

I once see it working on my site.  I can switch member between featured or not.

But now, as Admin, I found I can't modify member's profile, to set featured member on "edit profile page" ?

May I ask, From which page, can I click into the "profile edit page", to set featured member?

Or something wrong with my setting to disable the admin edit profile feature... ?

I have compiled all the mods with language file, Its too painful to go from the very beginning.

Really thanks ...

george

It's different for every user.

The direct url to the profile editor is yoursite.com/pedit.php?ID=####

Where #### is the member id of the member you want to edit.

If we are to be able to help you, someone here will need to be given admin access to your site to see whats happening, or you need to provide screen shots of what you see and a detailed description of the steps you take and what happens when you take those steps.

We can't diagnose a problem blind.

You can also make a member featured directly in the database in the Profiles table by setting the members featured field to 1 and then clearing the dolphin cache.

In the backend go to "members", click on a member, tick featured, click save.

I think there ought to be an edit button for admin in actions but there isn't. It wouldn't be hard to add one actually.

Thank deano and myalldesigns.

Actually I can't find the the action button there.

So if it could be like this, on "admin view profile page", <admin control block>, add a block, and then link to "admin edit profile page", just like the picture I attached. So I can set the featured on or off.

Or directly put a <featured switch> there, I can click on/off there!

Is this possible ?

I confused even on the official demo site, Ican't find the link?!

AmI wrong?

Thanks.

There isn't a button there. You misread his message. Here is what he said.

Nope, there isn't one. I said there ought to be because I think it would be better if there was. Also, if there was it wouldn't appear there. You are looking for the actions block in the profile section of the page builder. In that actions block we need to add an edit button which will take us to pedit.php?ID={ID}. I am working on it as I think it would be useful for most people.

OK, not sure I follow correctly here.  However, go to the admin and click on members.  You can sort by user name.  There are two links, one is the avatar for the member and beside the avatar is the user name of the member.  If you click on the avatar of the member, it takes you to the member's Profile Page.  However, if you click on the user name beside the avatar, it takes you to the Member's Profile Info/Edit page where you can tick the Featured checkbox.

 This is true in part.

when your taken to that members edit profile page, and yo try to selected featured member, then scroll down to save..

If the member has not filled out all the "mandatory" fields, your not able to "save" it therefore not setting the membership to "featured"

My way around this on some sites was to fill in the join form mandatory fields like the headline because of my members join with facebook module, some mandatory fields are left blank.

When the admin goes to such profile and tries to set as featured your not able to.

Yes, I have seen that little problem as well.  I am guessing this occurs when not all fields are part of the join form but are included on the profile info form as required.  Therefore, they don't get filled in when the person joins but then are listed as required if they try to edit their info.  If they are required fields, then either include them on the join form, or as others do, have it set to take them to the profile edit form to complete the required fields.

Do you mean the up right corner? I think this link will only take you to admin's profile edit page, NOT member's profile edit page.

even on the official demo site.

Many thanks allmydesigns.

I think it maybe useful if you want to promote someone and have its aviator showed on the first page.

In my case - I have the featured box under the admin section in my profile fields builder, so technically, I should see the featured on the profile of any user if i am logged in as admin - instead, it does not show at all.

EDIT

OK, just did a lil more checking, and i guess i should have had my glasses on. The featured checkbox does show up - just not in the place I had set it to appear in. It instead showed up at the very top of the profile edit - in other words, instead of being on the right where i placed it in the admin, it appears above the NickName field.
