error uploading file in video upload

Now i know this is spoken about all over the place, but mostly to do with incorrect settings from the outset, and never being able to upload.

the fact is ive uploaded something like 15 video files over the last few days,(ive got it set for uploads for each member at 30, so no issues there, and they are small video's too, under 2mb) but  all of a sudden im getting " alert error uploading file", EVEN when trying to upload a video file ive already uploaded (for testing purposes) now that wont go either.

I'd like to know whats going on really, im using the free version of all these widgets, and what i seem to be reading (after the fact) is that they are limited to so many files. This is just other peoples posts though and i cant find any official conformation at all, and nothing leads you to think that, when you are installing dolphin and all these ray widgets.

Ive been live now for 3 days and im getting a steady stream of members signing up, almost 30 so far, and using or wanting to use the dolphin and rays uploads and capabilties. Thing is, is my site about to look like a lame duck as these things reaches their limit, that nobody ever tells you about, i hope not, ive just forked out for a good host with RMS, a lot of local advertising, as it is i spend more time fixing bugs on this thing than i do spending time with my members, and now this, everyday something new goes wrong, and its getting right on my nerves.

This is like owning a three legged donkey, promises to do the work, but just cant manage it.

Where the hell is official support too. Admin, anybody that know the answers to these questions.

Regards

Tyke

im having a similar issue. I've surfed the net for suggestions and I've followed through with plenty of advice to know avail. I've messed with the php settings so that a timeout could not be the reason for the "undefined" message I recieve when uploading videos. I changed the file size in my admin settings with ray and still the same error. I just have no other place to turn to. It was working fine yesterday. Worse case senario is, I'll have to delete everything and start from scratch and I really do not want to do that. What should I do?

Don't delete and start from scratch.  In this case, contact boonex support (they will be back in on Monday) and ask them politely for help.  They will take a look at your site and point you in the right direction.  Yes guys, Boonex does support this software and normally turn time is 24-48 hours on a request for help I've found out if it's something such as Video errors.

Ok to deal with this upload problem first we need to know whether it is your hosting limitation or its your settings. Do the following procedure below for this upload error and if it doesnt work that means it is your hosting issue and you should change host.

1. Set permission 777  for files folder under each ray widget folder (music, video, board and etc)

2. Set permission 777 for ray/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe

3.Set permission 666 for ray/modules/global/data/integration.dat

4. Overwrite .htaccess in modules folder with the original .htaccess from dolphin package.

5. Make sure your php.ini settings for this settings below is set correctly

upload_max_filesize 30M
post_max_size 30M
output_buffering on
max_execution_time 2000000000
max_input_time 20000
session.gc_maxlifetime 24400
file_uploads on
memory_limit 30M

6. If you dont have access to  php.ini file just create a file .htaccess and copy this below and upload it to your cgi_bin folder :

php_value upload_max_filesize 30M
php_value post_max_size 30M
php_value output_buffering on
php_value max_execution_time 2000000000
php_value max_input_time 20000
php_value session.gc_maxlifetime 24400
php_value file_uploads on
php_value memory_limit 30M

7. Go to admin panel click plugins> Ray Suite and make sure your widgets File Size is set to the same value as your php.ini settings.

Special note if you are on windows hosting you will need to replace ffmpeg.exe file for windows which can be downloaded here in boonex.com

If all the above doesnt work then it means your host has some limitation and ray widgets dont work on your host.

I hope this help

well i took this advice and followed it to a t. and got the same results. so that leaves me with this question. what shared host is the most compatible with dolphin, ray, and orca? also, im currently using hostgator (baby croc package) would upgrading the package fix this issue? where do i go now, i really like this software, i just wished it worked.

Thanks for all your replies but in my case the problem is firefox and probably flash 10 issue. i tried for days to upload video, and nothing, just by chance i was on IE and tried again, and im able to upload video again, some as big as 21mb, and have uploaded another 20 so far. I went back to firefox, and again i cant upload even the smallest of video, so its something to do with that. This seems like a problem to me as most my members now (ive just broken the 100 mark.. and had my first paid member.Yayyyy :-) are on firefox, so im not sure how to get around this, i cant really tell everybody to get on IE or to back date their flash to 9, so i guess im just going to have to wing it and hope nobodys as any problems.

new problem lol. I can upload videos just fine. but when I go to play them, they seem to have buffering problems. it takes about 5 min for the video to even start, and when it does, it plays for 1 min, stops for 3, plays for a few seconds, stops for a few min. any words of advice?

Are you using your own rms or boonex rms? Boonex rms is generally slow and slower on weekends.

Quote · 8 Mar 2009

not sure, but how would I go about switching to my own rms?

Quote · 8 Mar 2009

Steps to get your own RMS:

1.  Make sure you have a true VPS or Dedicated server with Root access.

2.  Install Ray Ad-Free

3.  Buy Ray Ad-Free Licenses

4.  Install RMS

5.  Set Your Ray Widgets to use your RMS

If you can not do any one of steps 1-3 then you can not run your own RMS.  You can look into leasing off someone else that offers RMS.

seems its my computer. i tried playing video on my laptop and it loaded just fine. I probably should ask this somewhere else but I like the answers I'm getting here. When users sign up they have the option of single or couple for their profile type. I would like to take out the couple option and replace it with "taken" (without the double picture/profile that couple offers). What block should I use and what settings?

you should make a new post for this, as thats a different question and nothing to do with Ray 3.5
