email

My email isn't working.  I can iunvite a friend but the email isn't working?

check the spam folder

Is it just the invite emails?  What about other emails from the site?

My invite emails works but I cannot send any emails from the site. when I send out a test email it doesn't show up in the sent folder?

I haven't tried any incoming mail yet since I am still building the site but I want to be sure that the mail works.  I sent myself some invites though using yahoo and gmail. because they are not on my server and it worked so i'm thinking it must be set up right? I just can't figure out why I can't send any emails. I checked the permissions. ??

Do you have mail software installed and tuned on server?

Have you looked at log files? What does they say?

Have you tried to contact your hoster with this problem? What does they say?

I have tried contacting them they haven't gotten back to me yet.  I am using webmail. It seems to work fine with every other script I have used with it.  I don't know if it's tuned? I checked the settings, they seem to be alright but then, I am obviously no expert. I don't know any  front end settings other than the one that specifies the email I use for sending mail.  I don't know where to find it in the php files and even I did I would need someone to tell me the exact code to put in it.  Or exactly what I need to specify to my hosting company to fix it.  I don't even know what mx means.  So I don't know if it is set up properly but I know I the options are there to modify the mx sttings.  I try not to mess with things if I don't know what they are but I can usually figure stuff out if given directions in laymen's  terms.

Do I have to be a developer to perform Dolphin installation?

No. Anyone can do it, but some parts may seem uncomfortably technical for an inexperienced user. There is no punishment for trying, though! We recommend reading the Installation Guide first, and if it seems to be clearly understandable - proceed to actual installation. Once you've done it, you would wonder why you were afraid.

Referring me back to my own question for a solution is just rude and not helpful. Because I am not an "expert" by no means makes me inept or unable to read between the lines. Thank You.

 In order to work in any area you should have at least a basic knowledges of it.

If you have to deal with dedicated servers, you should know where your log files are, how to read them, what is MX and how to adjust it etc. etc.

There's a millions cases are possible on why your confirmation emails doesn't work. Log files usually contains exact answer on most questions and it makes providing help easier. Otherwise it's like asking a car service guy on the phone: "My car engine doesn't run, could you please give me directions in laymen's terms?"
