domain extensions...

anyone using domain extensions other than .com on popular sites?

Just wandering what the general thoughts are on 'other' extensions, and how much difference to users they make.

Ive bought a few domains recently for future projects, not many .com as they all seem to be bought out even if 90% are not used..!

.me

.net

.tv

considering a great domain name at the moment for a potential site but the only extension available thats any good is .co

Im yet to see a .co site in any general search results...

as matter of fact there isnt any difference between them except that every extension has some meaning to it (eg . .com means commercial  .gov for government and so on )
as for users they always search for your site using a search engine which i suggest you spending some more time minding instead of the domain extension lol ..

so those new extensions give your the opportunity to have a domain with 4 characters which you wont find with .com as an example .. some users which are used to use ctrl+enter after typing the site domain name would have some  problems but that wont count ... so this actually wont matter just pick the domain you like and suites your needs ...

if i did help you .. it wont hurt to go to my profile and add a recommendation for me ;)

Yeah, I know all that....

My point is - or my question was more to do with people perceptions.

Lots of blogs out there about domain extensions that belittle anything other than .com etc...

In fact, was reading one today that comes high on googles results for info on extensions, and it was 'stating' that .me, .co, .tv, .biz etc represent low quality sites and mainly are spam related site!

Seems the perception of people can important also!

thats actually right , most of these sites have spamming activities ... im the kind of person that loves to stick with .com or .net only they serve most of purposes  ...

other domain names might have been heavily related to bad sites which makes the extension a bad choice but sure it will rank on google if you did it right ....

if i did help you .. it wont hurt to go to my profile and add a recommendation for me ;)

I'm seeing all sorts of TLDs used these days for creative purposes (e.g., making the TLD a part of the name).  But I've never seen .biz used except by people who use it on purpose or live in their mother's basement.

Well Google seems to hate anything that isn't a .com ... and since Google represents a HUGE portion of any sites traffic it makes all those other extensions seem like a waste.

When was the last time you searched for something and saw a .me at the top?
