default avatar on sign up?

How would I go about changing the default avatar for a user? What I'm trying to do is...when someone signs up they have to upload a picture. How do I make it so the picture they uploaded becomes there avatar by default and not just the default male/female avatar that came with boonex?

just as a thoguht - what happens if you change the settings in your admin panel - settings - advanced settings - proflie - and changed the Member Thumb and Member THumb Icon to Profile Pic - would that be a feasable solution for you?
