cannot figure permission for inc

Hi all,

Just did a freash install of the latest Dolphin, it went smoothly and then on the last step it asked me that inc is writable, i skipped the step as before it was a nightware with inc.

Now i get:

Site security module is disabled, please upgrade to php 5.1.6 or higher to make your site secure.
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/jonathan/public_html/cathfam/inc/security.inc.php:77) in /home/jonathan/public_html/cathfam/inc/design.inc.php on line 133

I changed the permission to 644 from 755 and it said, script not installed. So I cahnged it back to 755.

I am using hostgator.com. Can someone give any insight..

Thansk all

No luck with 555, still the same issue.

I'm wondering about that too. I couldnt figure out which permissions to use. I tried 755 and 555 with no luck, yet it tells me that /inc is writable.

Which would provide good security (permission wise)?

On Hostgator (Aluminum) myself. I had to actually use the File Manager in CPanel to set the inc dir permission to 555, FTP would not make the change even though it claimed to.

Why not to do the thing, which is clearly given to you by the message - "please upgrade to php 5.1.6"

I have 5.2.9 php version.

Thanks for the advise, sydeburnz, for doing it via cpanel because that is what I have.
