can members add articles themselves?

Scratching my head... is there a way to let members add articles themselves on Dolphin 7 RC?

No they cannot. It's kinda of the same thing with the News feature, only the Admin can do that.

ah okay.  its strange that 6.1.6 allows members to do that but not anymore.  It's not a big deal tho.  :D

Thanks

As for news, it seems news pertains the to the website.  Though why they took out the entire moderator/affiliate system to have people help you with that part of administration is beyond me.  They never responded in any way why all that was removed but kept the code in.  if you take it out, you should remove all code related to it, otherwise you have a bunch of needless code cloging up stuff.

I do think members should be allowed to add articles. What's the usecase as to only administrators have this privilege???

I have seen sites like myyearbook.com which allow members to post articles....

I agree.  I would add articles feature to my site if it allows members to add articles themselves. I can't see myself busy adding articles everyday. It's not my thing.  :/

Do Moderators have the ability to add articles?... if so, you could make special writers moderators.

Thanks in Advance, Blaine

Once I asked this same question to boonex stuff, they answered me that members can post (articles) in blogs and forums.

That's not really wrong - anyway, it's there point of view and decision.

I have decided to use the articles section as a "HOW TO" tutorial section for the end-users to explain users the different site actions like -

how to create and upload a youtube video

how to record a video comment

how to customize your profile

etc

Thanks, I was thinking about adding video tutorials instead of writing them as that would take a long time. Do you know of any good free opensource video screen capture software that let's you do this??

The best I know is camstudio.org...

Mikescool, CamStudio works just fine for me. I have actually made tutorials using the screen capture function. Just make sure that you are not doing a FULL screen capture when recording. The reason I say this is because it is had to see what you are doing in such a small video window :)

Thanks Chris,

The only thing I don't like about the camstudio is that they display their icon I think at the start or the end which does not looks too professional for the site using it.

Jing is another screen capture solution. Jing pro is only $15/year and removes all their logos.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.
