all index files have been hacked

Hi

I noticed today that all my index files have been modfied, all at the exact same time. I have had to go through each one and restore it.

Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening again?

thank

This is the first time I hear this one.

Check your permissions. index files must have 644
Check your server logs for strange behavior, so you can find who or what was happend.
Check the server settings for wholes in security.

This is scary, I just checked and my index files are 644. So I'm thinking yours would be too by default.

Keep us up to date on what you find, please.

Good luck.

It seems to have been an FTP attack, so it was not done through the software itself.

Love it when individuals leave anonymous FTP enabled.  Word to the wise, disable it to avoid issues like this in the future, especially when you have triple 7 folders

It's possible this individual did the anonymous ftp thing. But there was about 48 thousand websites that got hit do to keyloggers snatching ftp info.
