would it be easy to add a status part viewable for other members on profiles???? like on facebook in a way, eg 'at work today but will be back online later today' and if so, would it be possible to have them viewable on the homepage??? if not thats ok,, just go with the profile status if not ..

Dolphin 7 includes this functionality, but it is not available in older versions. Something tells me that it wouldn't be easy enough to do in a sitting, but you're more than welcome to post a job application and have a developer take their hand at it (though they may charge you a fee).
