Youtube embed not working 7.3.5

I am trying to use the feature for embedding youtube videos to Dolphin 7.3.5. Using it in the album page. Seems when you try to upload video via YouTube with copy/paste in to the add youtube link feature, it comes back with:

"File upload failed".

I do notice there is a difference in what the link expects now:

Current link: https://youtu.be/sXYIxJScSik

Old Link: Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AANZvYn5uk

So how do we fix this so it properly accepts link???

My modzz module called "Video Channels" works with uploading, but not the Dolphin page. What I am wanting is the video show in the outline as a gif like it used to, instead of a "News icon".

Doesn't the link not have to look like this?

<iframe width="1280" height="720" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sXYIxJScSik" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Ya that's what it says, in the example, that is stamped in link to upload spot, but when you go to get the link from youtube, it looks like the "upper link" I have shown in previous question.

Then when you paste it in the link upload window you get the failed attempt. Like I said my Module from Modzzz called "Video Channels" does it just fine, but it uploads it as a news icon, instead of a small preview of video.

But when you do the same process in Dolphins page for video uploads from youtube, you get an error.

It's very confusing, mainly because the Video Embed block suggests the wrong code.

Open the YouTube Video and click the Share link on the bottom right of the video.frame.

Don't worry about any of the pretty pictures on the next window, just click Copy as shown in the red box in my screenshot.

That's the code you need.

When you click Embed on your video Embed block, it may look like nothing has happened. but scroll down the page and you'll see that all the video details are filled in for you.

A few things to keep in mind: Not all videos can be enbedded. Use this code to see if Embed actually works:

https://youtu.be/ePPuGXsRWas

If you still get the "Failed" dialog, check that /flash/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe's permissions for the owner are read/write/execute. It must be set to execute as well as read/write. This must be done via your FTP client or a File Manager.

If it still doesn't work, get back to me here. There are other things you may need to consider.

That's already been done.

The code YouTube presents does not work in the specific window I am speaking of for some reason.

The error, doesn't even let you get as far as your talking. As soon as you press add link, It shows the error or failure. You never get to get to any other window.

Question???

RMS Server dosent need to be installed for this to work does it??

I\ve never used an RMS server.

Questions:

  1. Has it ever worked before?
  2. Did you check that FFMPG is set to read/write/execute? You set it during the Dolphin install, but it can change if you've moved the site. Also, some hosts don't allow FFMPEG to run on their servers because it uses a lot of resources.

I'm not sure I know what "Specific Window" you're referring to. As far as I know there's only one place you can enter the code. (See pic)

Yes I checked setting all is good.

Yes the pic you sent is the correct one I am speaking of. I know it worked on my old Dolphin. So I couldn't say whether or not it worked on the current dolphin I'm running now v. 7.3.5.

I think I may have found the answer.

Both Chrome and Firefox are switching off Flash by default. You need Flash enabled to get the embed to work.

Flash will also be dead next year so I'm wondering how we'll be able to get around the problem then. Maybe Deano or Modzzz can comment on that for us.

I tried to embed with Flash enabled and all went well. I then disabled Flash and got the Failed error.

You need to enable Flash in your Browser, but how do you get your members to do that?

The easiest way to see if Flash is in fact enabled is to go to Admin/Modules/Flash Apps. If there's nothing there, Flash is disabled.

Enabling it varies from browser to browser.

Ok, let me go give it a try

May just have to add a note at the embed page, so people know how or can set it on or off?

Flash doesn't work on Mac devices or mobile phones as far as I know. The module may be useless in a few months and I'm not sure there will be anything to replace it. We need someone like Leonid, Deano or Modzzz to comment.

Ya I tried the setting situation in browsers, still no go... Im at a loss on this.

So in that case RMS is needed to support those. I had to have it before on old version, in order to use anything with in Flash apps.

It's possible your host doesn't support FFMpeg.

Have a look in admin/tools/host tools and see if you have the large FFMpeg box (Photo). If it's only two or three lines, my guess is your host has it blocked.

It's very late and I must get some rest.

Have you:

1. Used my test Youtube video because I know it works?

2. Cleared your caches during each test. and cleared your Browser cache. The Browser Cache is very important because it uses a previous page which could be a page giving bad results.

3. Are the flash modules showing up in /admin/modules/flash modules.

4. I read somewhere that POPEN must be enabled. I think that's an Apache module or command.
