I'm with you on this one! The bulk of my site traffic with be in the forums. I also have a vBulletin Suite and have become used to a "real" forum. Boonex... please improve on the forums for your software! |
I used to make the same gripe. Now I look at it differently. If you are building a forum heavy site, Dolphin might not be your best choice. If you compare VBulletin with Dolphin, VBulletin wins in the forum department but loses almost everywhere else. Check Facebook. It has a forum function as well but how often do you actually find yourself using it? Now, the newest version of the fish forum (and yes, I coined that term) now has pagination, easier quotes, easier and better photo placements and better white-space handling (albeit, not quite perfect in that department yet) Forums are old technology. Yes, there will always be a place for them but their share of the community space market has dwindled considerably in the past few years being replaced by more robust timeline designs as well as faster and easier to master mobile aps.
