I was interested in knowing if Boonex is planning to add API support in Dolphin for external services to connect and use features.
We have XML-RPC but that's not sufficient and not safe either since username and password are used in every call instead of some key based authentication. |
I am not sure I follow you on this; could you expand on the topic? I mean, you have complete access to all the code in all the scripts; what more do you need? Geeks, making the world a better place |
API support in Dolphin for external services to connect and use features.
I thought that is what Facebook Connect, and RPX/Janrain does along with something like the Facebook Modules..
ManOfTeal.COM a Proud UNA site, six years running strong! |
FaceSucks will give you a set of APIs because you don't have access to the source code. With Dolphin you have full access to the source code; you don't need no stinking API. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I'm talking about API which allows external services to connect with the site. Like rest API for twitter or Facebook.
Yes, Dolphin gives access to source code but there needs to be some standard API methods which can be used by any service. API are very important for growth of a website and allow developers to create interesting services based on it. that's how Twitter and facebook have grown so much. |
like that idea ... was thinkg of this a few times before, i am planning to add a "API" for one of my custom modules by myself but a default Dolphin API would be really awesome! http://www.boonex.com/market/posts/paansystems - your resource for Dolphin Pro |
oh, found a basic API written by Deano, http://www.boonex.com/m/dolphin-api http://www.boonex.com/market/posts/paansystems - your resource for Dolphin Pro |

Even i'm building something which needs an API. I'm building my own api, but a standard api would have been the right approach.

Its too basic, and is paid! I wouldn't expect users of my module to install another paid module for using it!

+1
yeah, a standart API would be fine, you are right!
