Why would anyone spend money here?

Why would I or and future customers invest anything into Boonex if your allowing 3rd party module creators destroy what I thought was a good CMS. Well it's kinda good, but always fails...

Thank GOD I was never so vein that I felt need to remove links back to Boonex, the creator of such crap.

(meaning when modules that are purchased and installed by some vendors that never work correctly and make it look like it is YOUR software!)

I'm personally and professionally glad the Boonex banners are all over my defunct bugged sites!

When a client asks... I just tell them it was a bad choice (Boonex/Dolphin) to begin with and will be replacing there scripts as requested to more reliable platforms.

I done with this "experiment"

Of cause 3rd-party modules can damage your site!
Choose add-ons with good reviews and your site will be fine.
Or if not enough reviews or unsure then test module carefully before buying.

i have learnt myself from my own mistakes the value of running a second setup to test any modifications you wish to employ
sure as hell could of saved me a lot of time and lost data if i would have done it from the start

i also agree with AlexT here

you should v\be sure to scan the reviews well in order to feel somewhat at ease with what and who you are working with
all i can say is i learnt from reading these forums BACK EVERYTHING UP

Im surprised too not a single bad word

I have a quick question for all of you. Why is it that some sites are doing well. I realize that they have spent some money on them, some a lot some not much.

Does it not depend on what it is you are trying to achieve? If you are copying FB, then I am sure there will be some serious money, time and issues you will face. If you are creating a niche market with may less features to start with, you will have less issues and spend considerably less money.

Am i dreaming or does this makes sense.

dolphin script is very good... but i do have an advice to the makers of dolphiin makers you should have a test criteria before approving mod makers  and allowing them to sell their mods here.

there mods can damage an otherwise good dolphin website.

it has happened to me i had to re setup the dolphin all over again twice.

and to all purchasers of dolphin mod be extremely careful when u upload a new module.

first test it else where see if its fine then only upload.

I've taken a break to relax.

How can one test a module if

  • there is no demo site
  • the module creator has corrected errors on demo site
  • there is no try and buy period

I've been reading the other topics about modules purchased up into the Thousands of $$$'s and are defunct and do not function properly. Do you guys like being put over the barrel?

Why would someone purchase on average 30 plus modules?

I no longer feel like I got screwed, I spent less than $200 on modules and am not happy.

I'm making what I have work..

If I spent Thousands.... well I never would have.. lol

PS

Who's crying? It's more like who's mad.

Prashhank25, how many modules have you purchased? If any..

TRY AND BUY SOUNDS OK  at least you could test its functioning first !

Try before buy would not work as it would require a licencing system be added to the script to be able to provide expirable licence keys.

A licencing system will complicate a lot of things. The worse being the install process.

All developers would have to do this and some may not want to go though the added expense that would drive prices up, and the problems on the server side requiring decoders such as Zend and ioncube.

ok Deano so as a developer do you think that a mod qualification should be inplace before mods are added to public market ?

I know your awesome developer but have you been following about my troubles with beckmedia ?  Some developers don't have a clue or simply don't care and I think something like a 'qualification process' would save alot of users troubles and also build faith in developers.

Yes, but the process would be time-consuming. And may result in developers having to wait months before their mod has been checked and approved. So to be realistic, i don't see that will improve things, but rather discourage the developers.

Yea, i have seen your posts. And it's one developer. And even if it was more than one, this method seems to me to be punished all developers for the crimes of the few.

This is one of the reasons i want to encrypt my mods and provide licence keys and yet at the same time i don't. It's the same thing. Forcing encryption and license keys is the same as punishing everyone for the crimes of the few.

The ones committing the crimes really piss me off, but do i really want to punish everyone else because of it.

I can never come up with an answer for that.
