Who is using microdata and "<div>"</div>

I have been reading about the new google.com/business/; who is using it?

I'm using the new "itemscope" as well. Any input?

Well the topic was supposed to be,

"Who is using microdata and <div itemscope>?"

I sort of avoid Google as much as possible since they became the "Do no evil unless it means making a buck" company.

 That doesn't make sense.

How do you think I rank so high?

I don't pay them anything GG. Not sure you get what I'm referring to here.

I guess one could set up a dummy account with google for this.  I hate the way google ties every freaking thing they have into your account; everything, and sometimes they actually set up an account for a service you don't want; of course this is part of tracking everything you do.  People complained about the YouTube comments but they didn't do anything positive like shutting down their accounts which would have been the smart thing to do.  Google, facesucks, twitter, LinkedIn, all of them, want to track and record everything you do so they can sell all this data and make money.  If corporations did not own the US government, we might could get some privacy laws in place like the EU is doing.  We are automatically opted-in to everything the corporations want by law; it was pushed that one would have to opt-in manually but the corporations bribed Congress and so they set it to where we have to go around optting-out of all the crap like financial corporations snooping into your credit records and flooding your post box with offers of credit cards and loans.

Sorry, did not mean to go on one of my soapbox rants LOL.

I probably don't.  I follow the link and click on the button and it presented me with a sign-in form to my google account that I don't use; only opened it because I was forced to open one.  At that point I closed the browser window.

I'm working on a web app that will use a lot of microformatting in the presented data. Unfortunately, I cannot discuss details.

Microdata is a WHATWG HTML specification used to nest metadata within existing content on web pages.[1]Search engines, web crawlers, and browsers can extract and process Microdata from a web page and use it to provide a richer browsing experience for users.

At the moment, the richer browsing experience I want is for all the websites to stop embedding auto-playing videos; and especially more than one.

Newt, in the interest of balancing out some of the nonsensical babble typical of gg, I'll comment further. There are some new microdata markup schema that are a perfect fit for several data intensive apps I'm working on for my real dolphin website. Although Google claims that pages using these markups won't currently improve rankings, I'm sure that won't always be the case.  Google does say that pages using microdata markup will be presented more prominently in search results, mostly in the snippets that you see in the search results. Anything that makes you stand out is better.

If there's a markup schema that matches information you are presenting, it certainly won't hurt to start using it now.  It seems natural that there will be many, many more markup schema as the use of microdata markup catches on, and this will be good for webmasters, and even better for end users.  For it to benefit end users however, the concept needs to gain widespread acceptance by webmasters.  When it does, search results will be much more relevant, because keywords alone return a lot of irrelevant crap.

The day Google decides that the use of microdata markup will improve search result rankings, is the day webmasters everywhere will commit to using it... but why wait.

Thanks, that's exactly what I've done.

It is new and looks promising to me, and easy to use.

I will also be adding these markups. Anything to help users find us is worth a shot - in my book. Even if it only brings one new member - it is one more than we had without it.
