I actually have a 5mb connection but it's only getting 3 at the moment. It's in use.
But i don't see a point to this. My site loads at a fast enough pace, only a few seconds with even the standard 768K DSL speeds.
I don't really believe the end user speed is the issue. Unless they are on dialup.
My site does occasionally load slow, but i know it's not my connection speed. It's my server. Every now and then there is a delay either with my apache web server or the database, and when that occurs, the page takes quite a while to load.
I guess what I am pointing out; there was a site I was working on that had a 3.5MB animated gif as a banner..
That's like a song download on initial page load right..
gtmetrix shows the simpler the site the faster the load.
Looking through the websites on here, quiet a few load extremely slow.. they are loaded on the main page. Looking further into sites on the same shared servers, the "plain" ones are fast.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is be aware of the graphics sizes used for the homepage html blocks, just some useful info for the new users of Dolphin.

Mine is 5 megs, both ways. Wireless to boot. (A dish on my building points directly at a high rise in Denver) Average ping is 39 ms. (you couldn't beat me in a shoot em up game if you tried!)
There have been many posts here about resource conservation and there's even a section on tricks you can use to dramatically speed up your server.... Just do a search.
PS: for a little extra cash I could pump my connection up to 100 mbps both ways if I felt the need.

It's all in the eye of the beholder and it was called for. The term that you removed is regularly used to describe the size of the recovery boom on a tow truck.
Give me a break. If you are offended by that, then i recommend you join a convent somewhere and shield yourself from the rest of the world.
Question: How does one get ping tests from remote locations? I'm trying to finding out if having a server on the other hemisphere would be worth the investment to serve those on that side of the world, everything else being equal?
