Thought we were getting at least monthly update. (That's what Andrew said.) But it's been 5 months, this is unacceptable!

There has been some work done as recent as mid-December to the code, so it's not stagnant (but I'd like to see at least a blog post with some information on the next version). Give it another five months at least. (Kidding.) BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
Also, site developers and module developers asked Boonex to wait on the next release so we all could get caught up. Many of us are not Dolphin developers or module developers full time; we have other jobs and duties we must attend to. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Once per month releases are too fast. So yes. geek_girl is correct. Many developers including me could not keep up with updates released that fast. We were falling behind on updates to our own modules, which if you purchased any of them i am sure it would eventually piss you off that the modules were not keeping up with the dolphin versions. https://www.deanbassett.com |
If that's the case, then I expected HTML5 Videos mobile/app issue to be solved in the next update. Also, I asked to allow users to upload subtitles for videos TWO YEARS AGO. How you feel if sounds were stripped out of videos? Exactly! Now, stop putting off deaf people requesting accessibility! Google Play has Closed Caption. Hulu has Subtitle. iTunes has Closed Caption. Netflix has Subtitle. YouTube has Caption. Boonex, what's your excuse? Please, make it happen soon! Some developers have over 20 modules and it seems "too many to update", not our problem. Because they decided to do these many. I am already sick of 7.X.X. I look forward to 8.X.X because I'm interested in media uploader and some features that are needed now. |

You are putting the ball into the wrong court; this is not a Dolphin issue but a ffmpeg issue. If you care to, you can do searches on ffmpeg and cc and srt. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I don't think there is a need for updates every week. Devs need time to keep up with updates too. Instead release them with lots of update at once. Unless its a security fix. Some developers have over 20 modules and it seems "too many to update", not our problem.Actually it could be the buyers problem. There is no requirement to update modules. Some devs can get frustrated and leave dolphin platform forever. so much to do.... |

I agree with the above statement mostly. I would hate to have to update my website every month. every 90 days would be a good balance, as long as it is fully tested and not a beta dressed up as a new release. I know that some of the vendors need about 2-3 months to get all of their products updated to any new release. This does not give them time to develop different mods for us. Over the years I've noticed that we get more new and different mods after a long break in between updates from Boonex. |
Dolphin 7.1.4 released July 31, 2013. Dolphin is currently using outdated FFmpeg 0.10 released February 2, 2012. FFmpeg 1.0 released September 28, 2012. FFmpeg 2.0 released July 10, 2013. Should have updated along with 7.1.4 release. FFmpeg 2.1 released October 28, 2013. <-- Current Do you know if Dolphin modified ffmpeg.exe? If not, then why are we still using old version?
CC and SRT... I believe you are behind. WebVTT (Web Video Text Tracks) is the way to go for HTML5 since 2011. |
CC and SRT... I believe you are behind. WebVTT (Web Video Text Tracks) is the way to go for HTML5 since 2011. No, I am not f-ing behind, you are too lazy to go out and do some searches to see if there is a solution to your problem. You would much rather blame Dolphin instead. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Requested 2.5 years ago... Andrew Boon responded. At that time, there was no HTML5 Player. Then HTML5 Player released 7.1 which was nearly a year ago ahead of 8 which came to our surprise. Today, no effort to subtitle support. Did you even click "behind" to see what solution I wrote 3 months ago? Already ahead of you and deaf people MUST remind Boonex Developers about the importance of accessibility. |
