What's Trending on your site? New tool for site..

Have a site with a lot of events, groups or basically you just want to know what is "trending" on your site?

I think some of might find this widget very handy, I and my members on many sites do.

I did forget to mention you must be using the "AddThis" line of widgets for site shares and page likes.

Kinda like this one but you can have the addthis code anywhere you want it, I edited the recommend box in the database and added the tracking code there. There are many post here on how to do that.

Using addthis IMO shares images and content better.

I have been considering AddThis in place of the recommend box.  I would like to drive more traffic to the site on shared content.

 I am using sharethis  share function bar right next to stars..but there is a problem with it. Most of the traffic i am getting on my website is by sharing my content on different facebook pages. so when i or any member share any content with sharethis buttons on facebook it doesn't show my website name with the content, instead it mention 'shar.es '  over there. which is annoying to me so i am thinking to add back the recommend buttons in the same place (next to the stars). cause with those buttons it always shows my website name with the shared content. I hope addthis isn't doing the same thing. but if it does then it will be promoting its self instead of your website.

I just want to add, there is a way to make sure site info gets to the social network, but it overrides some share info...

I will find my post on how I did this a year ago.

The same technique would work for videos as fancybox supports opening videos in a pop-up.

These cover some of the tricks to getting info passed, the trick is putting these in the right spots.

For a slideshow viewer of photo albums I went with a different open source package because the newer fancybox requires a license to use on my site.  I have the thumbnails opening in a pop-up with fancybox and a separate button on the page for View Album in Slideshow that uses something else, would have to go check to be sure which.

Is ShareThis and AddThis similar?  Why would one use one over the other?  Do they offer the same things?  Is one easier to get working with Dolphin than the other?

 I wouldn't think so, if not mistaken I think sharethis adds some tracking code to the end of our site urls which I don't care for.

but with almost same function. sharethis is more diverse in optimization of buttons but i think its share count is not accurate. Don't know about addthis count . Some time if you click on Fbshare it will count even if the content is not actually shared. 

4. Popup image/video views. if you got any ideas for improvement ..add with these ideas.

I have done this with lytebox for photos and videos (embedded) on my outline and home page for photos/videos.
