What's Boonex's policy on selling products that do not belong to them?

As a condition of use, you promise not to use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms, or any other purpose not reasonably intended by BoonEx. By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree to not use the Services:

  • To promote or sell Content of another person;

 I read this on Boonex's "Terms Of Use" Page and I was just wondering what Boonex's policy was on people buying products from the Boonex Market and then reselling them else where? I would also like to know what measures are taken in such a case.

Most all vendors here prohibit the redistribution of their modules. If you notice in the Market, there is normally a license area that says something like this:

(Taken from Modzzz)

License: IMPORTANT: This is a commercial product made by Stellar Soft and cannot be modified for other than personal usage. This license is valid for one domain only. Redistribution of this product for free or for a fee without written permission from Stellar Soft is strictly prohibited.

With that said, you are prohibited from selling other peoples products. Plus if there are updates, fixes, or additional functions added to the resold product, the person who has the 'copy' will not be able to download them. Another point, If the person who bought the 'copy' has any problems with it, the vendors always check the user to see if they purchased it (yes, there is a log of who all purchased your modules) before they give support. If the user is not there, the no support. This will also trigger vendors to notify BoonEx and Moderators that people have stolen copies of their modules. Its just a big mess.

Thanks for the quick response Zarcon.

So that means redistribution/reselling of products that belong to other developers is strictly prohibited. But now I would like to know what measures are taken once a Boonex member is caught selling a product that doesn't belong to them and/or what should other members do if they come across someone else selling products they know do not belong to them.

Example: If I were to find another Boonex member selling a product that doesn't belong to them, what should I do or who should I speak to and what does Boonex do to the Boonex member after they discover that they are in fact selling products that belong to another Boonex developer?

In this case I would first suggest contacting the original owner of the module. If the module is being resold here at Unity, you can contact me or any other moderator with specific knowledge that by no doubt proves another member is reseller a module without permission.

Note: I do not have the ability to moderate 3rd party websites that may be selling/trading modules that clearly violate Unity rules however, I will look into it if the evidence is overwhelming.
