What happens if move site to Non Dolphin hosting?

What happens if move site to Non Dolphin hosting? I.e. they do not have any special dolphin support.  I'm in the process of migrating to 1&1 / https://www.1and1.com/. Any experience w/ this?

Good luck.  You're going to need it.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

I had a dolphin install at 1&1, hated it. After much trial and error I went with TMD Hosting. Installation of Dolphin was literally one click and there support techs will answer any and all questions fast. They are setup for Dolphin hosting and no I don't get an affiliate payout for recommending them. Their prices are very good. Trust me I have tried 1&1, HostForWeb, Arvixe and many more I'm sticking with TMD. If you need copies of my receipts with the above hosting companies message me I will send them to you.

The first two statements in the second bullet are false....

As far as the First bullet statement this has been the easiest and most stable install of Dolphin I have experienced using Dolphin since 2007.

As to the second bullet statement if you visit their site it states Unlimited Space & Traffic I have not had an issue with this yet so I cannot comment. As far as the 24/7 Tech Assistance I CAN say this is true!

I guess a Hosting provider that provides Free Dolphin installation, upgrades and transfer is going to be hard on some people that charge fees to perform that service.

I considered TMD Hosting for a new Dolphin site after reading Spike's recommendation, but came across this while performing my due diligence check:

TMD Hosting BBB Accreditation REVOKED due to unresolved complaints.

Wow at first I was worried then I went to the link and by no means am I promoting TMD Hosting just relaying my experience with them so far, if I have problems trust me I'll sing a different tune. I have already complained about 4 other hosting services two of witch are in the recommended hosting link. I digress, getting back to the link I read down the page also doing my due diligence. 12 complaints in the last 3 years, is that all? 2 for advertising, 2 for billing, 1 delivery issue, 7 product/services and 0 for warranty/guaranty. With the last complaint 06/12/2012. Now I have no idea how many customers they service but if you ask me that's not a bad track average. How many complaints are there for Dolphin on Boonex website alone? Some legit others from inexperienced users. As I said before I can only relay my experience with TMD and other hosting companies. It is what it is.

I put Dolphin up for testing; never intended it to be a production site, on a 1and1 shared hosting and they removed the files.  No word from them, just went to the site one day and it was gone.

My time spent with 1&1 was horrible the only thing I had hosted was Dolphin and they complained about my cronjob and at the time I had no members. Yes the cronjob was setup right. I left 1&1 2 years ago things may be different now.

If you go to this website you will see that TMD got 4 stars while 1&1 got 2.5

I have used TMD Hosting. Sorry, but they would not be my first choice for a  shared hosting Dolphin site or a new Dolphin platform user. Several reasons, first the support is only email support. That would be fine, except if you want immediate resolving answers you will be disappointed. Every question I submitted  was either answered vaguely or answered with a question. I want a host that cares about the success of my website and it's security. I was frustrated at every turn. When I cancelled the  account it took billing several days to get back to me. When they did get back to me it took several emails to come to an agreement as to how the refund for unused portion of my annual fee should be calculated. Secondly, more important is that within the first week, I was having issues with CPU usage. Not Bandwidth not Data, not spam, just general website usage pegging over 100% several times a day, slowing the site down, making my 50 members wait for a page to load or needing to refresh. Even after banning all of China and many individual IPs, watching daily for cpu usage was aggravating to say the least. BTW only 8 members at most would be online at any given time. Needless to say, if you plan on having more then 8 members online posting to a forum and not using chat or email at all, then TMD Shared Hosting is not for you.  I am with Zarconia, now. Shared hosting for now, about 79 members and growing and no problems with usage. They use only email response. I contacted them several times ,when I first transferred over for FTP and mail set up, the response was clear and helpful. Since then, no issues with cpu usage or any other issues whatsoever. As my site gets larger, I definitely will be going to a dedicated package with them.  It is a breath of fresh air, not to have to babysit usage. Now I can spend more time with developing my site and making it profitable.
