What good is the iphone app?

I had my first look at it today, and quite honestly, I can't think of a single reason why anyone would want to use it to access a Dolphin site.

Can anybody tell me one?  Somebody needs to start thinking a little bigger on this one.

I still don't see what the problem is with just using your browser. I've navigated Dolphin with an iPod Touch and it's not difficult if you know how to work your fingers.

It has so much potential and if given any thought at all could help shine a very bright light on the site! Geocoded media...Movies in Hi Def and pictures uploaded as well as the ability through the platform that is already in place allow members to communicate like never before! The geocoded pictures are stock to the phone, This would allow for what goes on with 4 score and the now Facebook...... And HL this would open the door to being different than FB but communicate like them which we want to achieve........

My LG RD2030 doesn't offer a web browser, so I'll have to say none.

Ask around.  Find out if anyone else has uploaded anything at all to a Dolphin site from a mobile phone.  The only decent activity feed for D7 is the IBD-SpyWall mod, and I don't think the spywall folks are going to be putting out an iphone app.

Why would anyone access a Dolphin site from an iPhone, other than  to upload photos and videos, or to view and post to an activity feed.  The two things that users would want the most, are missing,  and nowhere on the horizon.

As far as browsing the site from an iphone.... no one is going to do that, unless template designers start coming up with mobile templates.

Interesting comments about the IPhone.  Would someone know anyone who can customize the Boonex IPhone Application on a development level?  I am in search for such a person who can help out.  I am just in the process of acquiring a mobile application license.

I would prefer someone from North America who can communicate regularly through Skype and email, if not the phone for direct discussions.

Thanks,

Amit

First of all, you need to be on Mac OS X to be able to even start developing with the iPhone app. If you don't know how to develop such apps, then I recommend hiring a freelance developer who does know. You should read up on Apple's site for more information on all of this.

All what features?  You can't upload anything, or have any meaningful interaction with the site.  So you can change your location, send site mail, and a few other trivial things.  As we say in Texas... Yeeee Haaaaa.

Something that would be a big help, would be for Steve Jobs to get his head out of his ass long enough to put Adobe Flash on the iPhone.  No  flash in the browser, sure breaks a lot of websites.   This, along with this Iphone crippleware for D7,makes Dolphin site quite mobile unfriendly.

I can upload and have uploaded pictures and THAT is the only part of the AP that is useful........The problem and the huge one that it is, is the fact that there are so many other APS that have it together and so many features work that it would be embarrassing to even offer the AP on your site.  IT IS SUCH AN AMAZING HUGE piece of the puzzle that HL has been kind enough to bring attention to............................................Look it is so obviously to look at the EXPLOSION of APPLE products even though Steve does have his head up his *** about Flash......  I had to look for 6 months to find a player that would play both FLASH and Play on Ipad and Iphone also.........I started a thread about I do have an IPHONE Developer who can rework this but I can't afford it alone and I am not sure if I have access to the open code do i?  HL has such a huge understanding of what needs to be done in order to be able to interact with Dolphin and an Iphone........ THE NEW FB interaction is nothing short of AMAZING have you seen the new comment section added yet?  See this link: http://www.getglobalexposure.com/r/pg/fbcomments.html  HL plz help me get that into my site and get around HP.......... Anyway that technology is only one aspect of what is being done and Boonex has the opportunity right here right now to step up to that overwhelming and surprising fantastic  technology    HL you have to see the brilliance of adding the ability to add live FBcomments throughout the site............ You will never have a better chance to draw attention to your site ever.......

Just to clear things up a bit... this thread is about interacting with a D7 site from an iPhone..... or was going to be anyway.   This thread has nothing to do with Facebook.

Every time I think you understand, you prove me wrong only a very limited view would not realize that they all are intertwined and until you understand that and the people who program understand that you will not be able to bring them all together to work as one.......  As soon as you spend anytime whatsoever researching what FB is doing, you will not understand that they are becoming intertwined with all possible communications.....  It is so clear to me that a tunnel vision thought process by developers is the reason now that the IPHONE ap is like it is and the enormous steps forward that FB is taking will continue to baffle people who refuse to see what it really is....... You don't own an Iphone do you HL?

the only way to see music and video is to click on friends  then you will see links for video and music.   pretty sure the videos have to be uploaded in .mp4 format or they will not play.

If you dont have any friends on your list then you will never see music or video.   what i did was went into the database and added myself as a friend so i can then view all my music and videos from the iphone.

I will buy this app only after they figure out a way to allow users to post on their wall or EVEN BETTER a newsfeed. This will def make it worth the $299.00. Without it I don't feel compelled to buy it for my upcoming site. C'mon Andrew think of all the extra $299's you will make. :-)
