What Should I Do Before I Install 6.1.4?

Hey Everyone,

I am building a community that is running 6.0.0005 rite now and I plan on officially opening our doors to the public in Jan or Feb of '09. I would like to upgrade to 6.1.4 but everyone tells me that it would cost too much for a site that only has like 6 active members at the moment.

My reason for posting this is I am going to do a fresh install of dolphin to replace my current community and would like to know if there is anything I should do to prevent a lot of the issues people usually face. I'm referring to hackings, file upload size issues, and the like. I know to fix these problems, you usually have to edit some of the files. I was thinking that if I edited the files with the fixes before I uploaded them, I could avoid some headaches and issues and have my community in working order in time to meet my personal deadlines. I would appreciate any input, especially on how to prevent those two issues I pointed out earlier. Also, if you point me to any files, could you give me the complete directoy lol? Idk where any of the files are really. Thanks all. I do appreciate all of the input.

Hi,

You should to transfer all your members and possible site media content to new 6.1.4

.. we always provide all necessary upgrade packages, so you can choose it.

But it will delete all installed modifications at your site (just because dolphin files will replaced to new versions)

And last: always keep latests backup of your site ;)

You can use the dolphin upgrade packs and convert your database.
