Is anyone messing around with WebRTC for their webcam solution? I know it's javascript based and it is peer to peer, but I was wondering if anyone has experimented with it before.

I played around with it - unfortunately Apple devices don't work with it. caredesign.net |
I played around with it - unfortunately Apple devices don't work with it. Well that to me makes it useless. lol. Thanks for the input. Apple is too popular to not have it work for them. |
From the demo video, they 'are' using an apple product. Perhaps it was just the browser.... Ultra Newb reporting for duty. |
tried 3 different ipads and iphones, and neither worked - and that is using Chrome browser. From the demo video, they 'are' using an apple product. Perhaps it was just the browser....

When you say you played around with it...do you mean that you played around with it after you integrated it with dolphin for testing? Or do you mean you played around with it on the demo? Ultra Newb reporting for duty. |
wiithout integration with Dolphin - but with the idea of integrating with Dolphin. I tested using the demo site - with ipad, ipad air, iphone (original), iphone (5), samsung galaxy, samsung note, rca tablet, dodo tablet, samsung tab, and several pc's. First with demo site - results were: all android devices and pc's worked perfectly. Camera was accessed and could see video of parties. Must use Chrome, firefox, or opera browsers though. Even tried using skyfire browser fo ipad and iphone (which is what i use when viewing a site with flash videos) and still no luck. Then tried demo code on a standalone page (not within dolphin site), results: only pc worked - so I guess I have a few things to tweak for mobile devices.
This is just my personal experience, and from what I have read, apple does not support webrtc yet - or maybe I missed something. If it does, then I will take the time to really figure out how to implement into dolphin as it would be way better than the default chat. caredesign.net |
This technology will be integrated with dolphin (classic), soon. I've nearly finished |
@Andrew - will it work on Apple devices? caredesign.net |
Please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebRTC it describes all supported browsers |
I understand and read about the supported browsers - but I had an issue with using chrome on ihones and ipads - which is why I asked if it would work on apple devices - even with the appropriate browser. One of many quotes about webrtc and apple: "WebRTC is going to come to iOS devices soon: Apple hasn’t joined the efforts to implement and standardize WebRTC yet, but Google wants to nonetheless give developers a way to address users on iPads and iPhones through the release of a native toolkit" caredesign.net |
I'd be interested. Have subscribed to this post, please post here when its available :-) This technology will be integrated with dolphin (classic), soon. I've nearly finished

The product was published yesterday. Curious if nobody has noticed it :-) |
The product was published yesterday. Curious if nobody has noticed it :-) Yes, it showed up in the list of new modules when I visited the market; I even visited the product page to read about the module. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Great. Will check it out :-) |
Presumably its integrated with Dolphin membership etc... I cant see any links to try it on the demo, is the only link supposed to show on users profile pages? |
Yes, the module is integrated with membership levels. The demo user (demouser) has the opportunity to use this module. However you should understand, that in order to test it - you need a companion. The video call button is placed at profile page. You can make an appointment with me by PM (I am available in day time to demonstrate the module's possibilities) |
Hi, I have tested the module with AndrewP and it works great on his site.

Does it work with Apple products - this is extremely important, but noone can seem to answer it. caredesign.net |

AndrewP for Web Chat for groups using WebRTC -
Couple of things before I try this out. 1. Can you set it up to have users resize and move video feeds wherever they want on the screen? 2. Can you have separate buttons to turn on and off audio and video individually? 3. Does this have to be placed in a group module or can one use it is a replacement for the stock a/v chat room that comes with Dolphin? 4. If this works with member levels on dolphin, can you have a way to right click on the video feed and have an option to private message the user and/or view their profiles from their video feed? 5. Is there a limit to number of video feeds in a room at one time? I doubt that every user will be on at once, but I'd need it to work for whomever wants to turn on their cam whenever they want. 6. Can there be a way to set it up with a link to other browsers that work or to whateve r plugin needed for WebRTC so it's a fairly painless process for when Mac users start complaining that it doesn't work for them? Or a link that says mac users click here - and it takes them to the standard flash chat built in with Dolphin as a plan b for them?
Thanks in advance! Looking forward! |
You may want to post in his support forum for the product instead of Fun and Foo http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Audio-Video-instant-messenger-AndrewP-.htm Vunderba..... Challenge Yourself to be the Best...... Hosting from Zarconia.net |
Support = after you buy - it wouldn't let me post before I buy- so i searched for where this had been discussed before and posted here. ;) |
Why? The forum is public, anybody can post there (so you always can inquire before purchasing) |
