W3C Validation errors....

I just checked my home page and it has 110 w3c validation errors and 67 warnings... and that is just 1 page... now, is it just a case of dolphin being complete crap when it comes to w3c valiadion due to bad coding or is it purely something I have done?

How important for page ranking is it at each of my pages passes validation?  and what difference will it make? and what, if anything, can be done about it?

Any help and advice will be appreciated.

Pay no attention to that..

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.cnn.com&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

CNN has 174 with several warnings..

How important for page ranking is it at each of my pages passes validation?  and what difference will it make? and what, if anything, can be done about it?Does nothing to your page rankings.

actually w3c validation ensures nothing but how good the web-designer was nothing more nothing less ...

sure in some cases this means multi-browser compatibility and by multi-browser i mean all the hundreds of browsers in the world can work probably with your website  ...

so in case of dolphin i think it's not that needed to have these specifications although doing them wont hurt..

usually when i design i go and check every single page (with Dreamweaver w3c validation feature) while creating it even though i could have tested it before  , but it's just one of the geeky things that the person do just because ! ...

you can go and fix them your self usually it wont take that much of a time except when i comes to using div instead of table tag

if i did help you .. it wont hurt to go to my profile and add a recommendation for me ;)

To be honest, CNN should never be an example to follow.

This topic was pointless the first 20 times someone brought it up.

yeah that's because it was believed that it affects SEO severely  ..  but lot's of ppl who work in that field say that it's not a big deal here is some quotes  from them

1. Aaron Wall, of  SEOBook:

If you want to get links from web designers who charge high rates then W3C validation is important to SEO, otherwise it has little direct importance outside of ensuring proper rendering to end users. When one visits Amazon.com or Google or Yahoo! (or just about any billion Dollar+ internet company) they will find a website that doesn’t validate. Why is that?

2. Brent Payne, SEO Director for Tribune

I like to keep errors under 25 or so, though Tribune has 100+ errors. Perfect code, I don’t think is necessary but you don’t want to have too malformed of HTML. Some say it is a ranking factor, I say you just don’t want to have stuff that is too unexpected for the bots.

3. Dennis Goedegebuure, Senior Manager & Head of SEO at eBay Inc.

It depends on the type of errors and how many, it all depends on whether the crawler can actually read the real content of the page.
