Video and Music player question

Hi,

I have had Dolphin installed for about a week and the video player and music player were working fine.

Today I went into the admin Plugins section and now they come up as not registered.

I got the impression that the basic players were part of the main Dolphin install.

Do I now suddenly have to pay for more modules??

Anyone able to help me get my head around this?

Thanks in advance.

I have read that if you have flash player 10 installed, the possibility exists that accessing Ray Modules will wipe out your licenses, and that you cannot re-enter them without reverting to flash player 9.

Although I use flash player 10, and have never observed such a problem, I don't doubt the problem exists under a specific set of circumstances.  So, my questions to you would be, 1. Do you have flash player 10 installed?, and 2. Are you able to re-register the Ray product licenses?  If you do use flash player 10, and cannot re-register licenses, then the flash player 10 problem is probably a real issue.

A total re-install of Dolphin is NOT good advice.

well houston is right is not a good advice, unless you're just testing dolphin, the same thing happen to me with the ad free ray once I clicked plugin ray it starts saying "not registered". I think flash 10 has nothing to do. if flash 10 is the problem you will need to tell all your visitor to "disable flash 10" they will leave.

You simply need to register and activate your license. copy and paste it into your admin ray suite window.

How: Log in, click unity home, then my license... and generate licence from there.

The reported problem with flash player 10 has nothing to do with visitors.  The reported problem has to do with accesing Ray Admin with flash player 10.

I think Houston might be correct.

I was not aware of a flash 10 issue and the machine I was using had flash10.

All was working fine until I went into the plugin page and it popped up a window that said I had unregistered plugins...I clicked ok and poof, now I get a not registered image instead of the basic video and mp3 players that I had working before.

I downgraded to flash9 and have tried a few times to re enter the free license codes, but it says wrong license number each time.

I deleted all my licenses for Ray and generated a new set, these also will not be accepted and even my site address will not get entered and accepted in the register box.

I am a bit confused about this issue, but also what exactly you have to buy and not buy with Boonex software.

I bought Dolphin and Orca permanent licenses, and the vid player and Mp3 player worked fine, albiet they did not have all the functions of the full players that can be bought for $99 each.

That was all fine...the lite players worked perfect and had no ads! I want to get back to that setup...I'm not sure now if I did try to fix this by paying the extra to buy the full version that it would even accept those licenses.

I was also emailing Boonex support and Igor answered right away, but now seems to have gone silent, so not sure if any help will come from his end either.

I'll keep trying, but it is a bit depressing having spent a huge amount of time trying to get to understand this software and get it working and then be stuck again...also I have Dolphinmods doing some installs anyday now, and if I need a fresh install to get vids/mp3 working again...well...that will be more complications I suppose. :(

I don't know if I was correct about the flash player 10 issue.  It's just something that has been mentioned on this site.  I have flash player 10 installed and have not had problems.  I just mentioned it to give you something else to try. Sounds like it didn't work.  It's too bad that Boonex can't take better care of paying customers.  I considered paying for this script, but I'm glad I didn't after reading these message boards and using Dolphin for a few months.

I can't believe Boonex does not have a seperate support forum for paying customers, and it would be nice if they spoke English.  I realize that some of the developers in Bishkek speak better english than I speak Kyrgyz, but they are difficult to communicate with at times.

Good luck getting a rise out of these Boonex folks.

heheh, no problems, I know I will sort it eventually, just a downer to spend more time when it was working, also makes me a bit worried how touchy it is that it might happen once I have it populated with a few members.

Re the support, I can't say much except 2 times Igor emails right away. First time I resolved the issue in about an hour, so I didn't end up needing help. This time maybe he is away or something??? I'll keep hope out for his help or figure it out myself, but the license end is in their hands so that limits what a user can do....I may be stuck.

One thought I had and will try later is to do a second fresh install of dolphin ads version and see if the players kick in on that, and maybe also kick in on my payed version. :)

Ok, well, I broke down and gave it a try with paying for an ads free license and it worked.

It's pretty bizarre that it worked without paying initially....anyways.... on to the next hurrdle which is not being able to upload clips bigger than 2 megs even if I have 20 megs set in the Ray settings!

Many posts on this, and many suggestions...some not so easy if you don't have server root access....anyways, Ok, here is simple solution that works.

I opened up my notepad program and entered this text:

post_max_size = 100m
upload_max_filesize = 100m

nothing more, nothing less

saved it as "file type" = all files   and name php.ini

I uploaded it inside the ray/ folder and all works fine!

Thanks to shaunbaird for posting this elsewhere

You might also want to increase values for these 2 settings if you have trouble with large files:

max_execution_time

memory_limit

I had the same issue with uploading larger files and found that there are three places to change your upload max size. the first is of course in the Ray Settings, the second is the php.ini file under /public_html/, and the third - which confused me like crazy as to why - the server php.ini -which means you need root access. I use a whm so i changed it there, and all is well

php.ini can be ran locally and in most cases you only see this on shared environments. php.ini is ran locally and globally, the first ini that is fired is the global, if your files are calling for prerequisites that are php binary  exclusive, and you have a local ini, then it will in the matter of course, execute the local settings precedent over the global settings when files or folders are instantiated from x-path

if you have local ini then there is in fact no need to edit global, or vice versa, if you have global ini access, root on dedicated or vps, then there is in fact no reason to run local, unless you are running a script in one environment that would conflict with another.

max_execution_time

post_max_size

those need to be increased......
